I just noticed that the doorlock switch in the centre console constantly unlocks, never locks. The doors are unlocked, I hit the switch then they lock for a split second then unlock again. Is it not working properly or is it designed to unlock only? If so, I do not understand the design behind this.

he pop-up unlock (after hitting lock) action occurs in my car too if the doors are not absolutely 100% closed with a vengeance.

You may have a bad door switch that tells the car when the doors are closed. If one is bad, the doors locks will not lock by the switch.

The moon or stars must be alligned strangely. Mine jsut started doing the same thing the past week or two. If I hit the lock button, they pop back up. Even stranger is when you have one of the doors open, the locks keep popping up and down.

I finally got around to checking this and bingo, problem solved. I had the driver door open at the time I was getting the lock-unlock, but then checked again with the doors fully closed and it works perfect.

    thanks guys....this forum ROCKS!!!

Hmmm. Mine sounds like a different problem. Securely shut the locks pop back up when you hit the lock button. The oddest part is, when you have the driver door opened about half way and not pushing any of the lock buttons, the locks just keep going up and down.

I would suspect that your AMP connector in your door is suspect, unscrew the connector and inspect, also peel back the rubber boot to see if you have wires that have snapped or pulled out.

The locks will also pop back up if one of the acuators isn't strong enough to pull it in the full locked position. You can test this while sitting in the car. With both locks in the unlocked position, hit the lock button, if they move and pop back up, try locking one of them manually, say, drivers door first. if you hit the lock and it still pops back up, repeat again, this time manually locking the passenger side. If after doing this, you find that it locks and stays lock, I would suspect that when you lock your doors, the passenger side (or the side that you manually locked when the locks stayed locked) is not fully locking the door which causes it to reverse. The one that you suspect is slow, not fully locking, have a friend hit the lock while you are looking across the car to view both locks, if you see that one pulls down slower or doesn't get all the way down before the locks pop back up. Take a look, check the connections for loose wires etc.

Another way to test is to use the key in the drivers side door while the car is unlocked, turn it to lock it with the key from outside the car. If the the passenger side locks and stays locked, it probably isn't the passenger side. Switch sides, if you use the key in the passenger door, and the drivers door pops back up, check the driver's side connections.

    Hope this helps.

    Great advice Spiderman.

I think I have isolated the problem. The driver side lock does not appear to go up or down via the lock and unlock buttons. The only way to lock it is by turning the key in the door. The passenger side lock apparently always wants to match the drivers side lock position. In other words, if I use the key in the door to lock the driver driver door and passenger door then push the unlock button on the console, the driver side lock doesn't move and the passenger side goes up, but then goes right back down to the locked position. This is the same when pushing the lock button on the console. If the driver side lock is up, it stays up and the passenger lock goes down to lock, but then pops back up.

I did all this before physically checking the wires in the door where you said to check the AMP connectors. However, based upon the results and the continuous up and down of the lock with the door partially open, I suspect there is going to be loose or broken wires in there.

I did a search on the AMP connectors threads and found plenty, but I'm still researching how to actually get in to look at the wires. I'll post a new thread as I have time to investigate and if I need help. Right now it's not a huge issue for me since we only take the car out with the top down anyway making the locks superfluous.
