I thought the 1/12 scale tamiya enzo was a diecast body? I missed out on opportunities to get the enzo brand new for about $330 shipped to me, just didn't pull the trigger!!!
hi guys just seen the the gto for sale on modelissimo site, and the price is 490 euros + p+p. im glad i got mine for 312 euro from derrick in torontomotorsports.
No, the Enzo and 288 are both something else, dont say plastic (thats forbidden), epoxy resin i believe. A lot lighter a model but apparently it looks so much better to some folk.
Hello Jack! i received and i m glad...it was missing since a long long time in the display. I dream it and tamiya realise it. here you have Jack. Now i will try to sold all others not Ferrari s...i ve got 3 mercedes to put out the display i want to have it clean. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I received my Tamiya 288 GTO two weeks ago, and needless to say its stunning and now the crown jewel of my collection. I will not post pix, because there are already many good ones on this thread, thanks to all BTW. Other than the positive attributes, I have a little complaint about two things: Plastic body, IMO, does need getting used to in this scale. It doesn't detract from overall quality, and makes model lighter to handle and ship, but I would prefer the heft and 'feel' of Kyosho diecast metal parts. Seats could have been molded in rubber, similar to Kyosho's 1/18 scale Ferrari's and BMWs. It would have given a more realistic softer feel than hard plastic. Its is a great model, but IMO not worth $699 that some retailers in the US are asking. I got it for $500 shipped. IMHO, this model is worth/value $300-$400. But the 288 GTO is my all time favourite, and this time I had to have it.... I was glad to pay the 'emotional premium'
The 1/12 288 GTO is finally gonna mine. Ordered it the other day and I'm frothing at the bits! Missed out on HLJ's sale some months ago...overstock sale for around $300.00 US! I could have kicked myself for not getting 2 of them. Oh well, live and learn I guess. Does anyone know a good source for display case's for 1/12? Thanks.
I have all 6 of my 1:12 Ferraris in AutoArt 1:12 cases, they can be found here: http://www.aa-collection.com/web/product/en/312?antiCache=125019601022569872DDEBDF136AB5AE02AF5B61E3DA3 and non-cf look here: http://www.aa-collection.com/web/product/en/497?antiCache=125019601022569872DDEBDF136AB5AE02AF5B61E3DA3 Sadly, it looks like they're out of stock on both - again. Last time this happened they were out of stock for 18-24 months. Good luck. Glad I bought the extra one for my 1:12 Breadvan when I did.
I know everyone will say...dude you're crazy! I'm about to start taking apart my 288 gto for super detailing. I've had it a whole two days and already unhappy with it. Okay I would'nt say unhappy just not "completely satisfied". Over the years I have aquired several hundreds of dollars in R&B Motion machined aluminum nuts, bolts, rod ends, etc. I've been waiting for something special enough to use them on...and now I have. I will keep you updated.
Some massaging of the wheels with new valve stems and a light wash of the rim halve nuts. These first pics are without the wash..only the valve stems. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
a couple more. I do like how Tamiya got the rim "barrel" just the right sheen of shiny. It's not too chrome and cheap looking....They're saying ,I could stand to be polished but I still Look GOOOOD! The GTO is the only Ferrari that (I thought) looked right with the same front offset on both front and rear wheels....AND....with the rim halve bolt heads on the inside of the wheel and with the nuts on the outside barrel. That is just one more thing about this car that I love and makes it so badass! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ok, To anyone that thinks thet're gonna take the Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari 288 GTO apart to "super detail" it.......think again. Leave it to Tamiya to engineer the model that leaves no visible clues as to how to take it apart. You can't......not unless you want to start taking the chance of breaking parts at glued joints, and there are lots of glued joints. Plastic to plastic, plastic to metal...etc. I spent 5 very careful hrs. last night looking for ways to take it apart and removed a total of 6 screws from body to frame attachment points and came to the conclusion that it ain't happening. I did manage to get the front wheel/tires sitting at an acceptable not so negative camber angle!
The camber issue is the one and only thing that bothers me about this beautiful model, but I have neither the guts nor the skills to risk fixing it.
I SAW IN ONE PHOTO A BLK GTO PACKING AND IT COMES SHRINKWRAPPED . BUT where does the grey gto , I gather packaging come from I see next to the blk packaging. Also do these come with plain brown shipping type boxes they have some type of 288gto markings indications on them.
amasing shoots and nice work on rims! i would like to havethe same on mine, complicate to do? whee did you get the valves?
