I may be mistaken, but the 355 has an "aero" styled underbody panels which give more downforce at speed? Has anyone ever installed it in a 348? Is it possible to do? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not that I am aware of. But, Japanese owners seem to have no fear of modifying their 348's. I have seem some with defusers on the back, splitters on the front, and even running canards. Track cars of course. Here have a look http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=136558467&postcount=13 I would imaging you could make something out of sheet metal to run the length of the bottom?
Thanks Ernie. I've checked the prices at Eurosapres and it will cost just under £1,000 for a new set. Going to ask Al (who did my respray) if he can do it for me. Sinec teh 348 and 355 are virtually teh same body, i don't foresee a major problem. If yes, will start hunting around for a used set somewhere and give it a go. As for modifying, I think everyone mods their Ferrari's more than we do here in the UK.
Just had a quick chat with a ferrari specialist friend of mine and he reckons it's possible with no modifications.

Gentlemen...downforce is easy...reducing drag is the tricky part. If you are not "on track" it is just an exercise in "dick swinging."
Just a note: It is probably possible to put a F355 undertray on an F348. But unless you also shave off the center of the F348's nose and let some air flow under the car, it will not work as it does on the F355. The center 2-odd feet of the 355 nose blends a significant amount of air from the nose down under the car. It is this flowing air that creates the lower pressure and creates the downforce.
I'm curious... even if these modifications to introduce a 355 underside aerodynamic kit to the 348 don't produce significant downforce to increase grip at speed, would it at the very least provide additional protection to the underside from impact (rocks, debris, etc), the elements (rain, road salt, etc), and reduce drag (increasing efficiency?) by smoothing out turbulent air under the car?
