Has anybody taken off their windshield wipers before? I finally decided that I really don't drive the car in the rain (ok, other than last weekend, I shall sin no more) so I decided to just take the wipers off. Actually, I think the car looks pretty cool without the wipers. What do you guys think? Kai Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
??????? Not sure if that is a good idea I mean sure you don't take it out in the rain but Mr.Murphy has a way of showing up when least expected and if you get caught in a sudden shower I wouldn't take the chance.
+10. I religiously avoid taking it in the rain, and some how have ended up driving in the rain a half a dozen times.....Stupid DC/Baltimore meteorologists
Looks good, I was tempted to do the same thing. To me the wipers look huge and ugly...but having been caught in the rain before, I wouldn't take them off.
The wipers have been always off in my 308 and my Alfa 1750 GTV. They look cleaner. Just store one wiper and tools in the trunk, just in case.
I treated the windshield with RainEx or something like that. Besides, it only rains in Jan-March in the Southbay any way. I've had the car for 2 years now and I think I have used the windshield wipers twice. I like the idea of keeping one in the trunk for just in case. Kai
Rain X is only really effective at clearing the windscreen with the help of some wind....so generally you need to be going 50 mpg or higher. I would agree with the "Murphy" statement and put them back on....but that's just me...and I live in Seattle...
looks pretty good actually.. i think rainx would do a good enough job in case you get stuck in the rain (which sounds like you hardly do)
I would think that if I didn't have to turn my head 90 degrees to try and see the pics I may be a better judge.

Hey, much better. That does look pretty good and makes sense for those that don't drive in the rain. How many with Spiders DO drive in the rain? Does your top leak?
I love the look, but sadly, I live in Oregon. It rains here about 9 months of the year. And even when it is not supposed to rain, our crack smokin weatherman gets it wrong. I drove my F car to work last week and it rained like hell for about an hour while she was parked in front of my office (thanks, Crack-Smokin' Dave Seleski!)
I took the wipers off my car a few years ago, mainly because the driver side arm is busted. That and it does look so much better without them.
Took mine off a few years ago also. Never drive it in the rain. Put them in trunk with a 13mm wrench just in case.
Looks pretty cool mate! I should do the same. I have had my car for over 3 years and have used the wipers once or twice also. It NEVER rains here, so the chance of getting caught in the rain is slim.
have to say that the car does look alot "cleaner" without the wipers, F-cars always benefit (appearance) when you can hide things (ex. 355 door handles) BUT my 2 cents is from personal experience. The first one was when I was driving in Nor Cal on the fwy and the driver minivan in front of me decided he was done with his milkshake and dumped it out the drivers window. It was a vanilla milkshake- I know this because almost all of it landed on my windshield and for a couple of seconds, I was travelling at 85mph completely blind, slowing down and making for the shoulder. It's worth noting that wipers don't work very well at clearing milkshakes from your windshield. The other instance is when my drivers side wiper came loose (nut) in some mist coming home one day. I was close to home, made it back and even though I planned to tighten the nut-got distracted and forgot. Remembered when I was driving up to lake tahoe, windshield got dirty, sun was shining just right and i couldnt clean my windshield. Car in front of me could though and his wiper washer fluid drafted over his car an onto my windshield making a bad situation worse. I finally came on a turn out and luckily had the socket I needed to tighten the wiper. Long winded way of saying what everyone else has: murphys law will bite you. Wipers aren't just for rain.
The 348 looks good without any wipers. However, I did get caught in the rain twice this summer so I think I will keep them ON. My question is do you guys know if the right wiper could be adjusted lower in the rest position. It seems to me that it could be a good 5 inches lower without interfering with the left wiper.
just made a thread about this - I think it looks really good, although there is small part of me that thinks it looks weird, only because ever car i have ever seen has always had wipers - Not used to a car without them i suppose
WAY better without wipers. Especially if you never drive in the rain. Image Unavailable, Please Login
