smart thinking on the part of Ferrari - wonder why they couldn't have made it work for Michael... now, if Lauda would just shut up and mind his business..

Luca Badoer will get a two-day stint at the wheel of Ferrari's 2009 car this week, prior to making his race debut in the place of injured Felipe Massa at the European grand prix.

Massa's intended substitute Michael Schumacher tried to get authorisation within the strict in-season testing ban to drive the F60, but not all rival formula one teams agreed.

However, permission in the case of 38-year-old Badoer's two-day test at Fiorano beginning on Monday is not necessary, given that it falls under the category of allowed running "for promotional purposes".

Ferrari confirmed that the Italian's test "will be part of a video shooting", while it is understood that Bridgestone's demonstration-specification of tyres - which are much harder than those seen at grands prix and in real tests - will be used.

Former triple world champion and Ferrari champion Niki Lauda told Germany's Sport Bild that he is not looking forward to Badoer's Valencia debut.

"Ferrari will have only one car in Spain: for Kimi Raikkonen. Badoer will barely exist. He will not be good enough," the Austrian predicted

It would have been too difficult to keep F60 "private testing" times quiet??

#1 - Screw Lauda! [Loved him as a jockey, sucks as a "commentator"]

#2 - The Autosport report also mentions that speed will be limited to 100KPH ("agreed to by the teams") on the wooden tires.

Not gonna learn a lot here....

    Cheers,
    Ian

He might find the cupholder while he's in there which will surely help him at Valencia as he cruises around.

I love Lauda and his comments and as usual he is spot on.

The 100 km/h limit was imposed by Ferrari because they need the car back afterwards...

Lauda sucks as a commentator because you don't agree with him? Or because he fails to get a reaction????

One could argue that the former is irrelevant if the latter goal is consistently achieved...

"When i came to the hospital i had to fight with the brain" N.Lauda, 1976

Pity he is not putting his brain into gear before he does his mouth.

Oh, still NOT forgiven for pulling over in Japan during a wet Japanese GP [1976] and handing the Championship to a very unworthy *champion* in J.****

He does get a (very often negative) reaction to a lot of what he says, and in fact I do agree with some of the stuff he spouts. However, as someone said above, I do think he should put his brain in gear before opening his mouth. Just because he was a *great* driver doesn't make this a worthwhile comment:

He's entitled to his opinion of course, but that's just not fair - Slagging off another driver like that shows a complete lack of class IMHO.

I hope he shows up a few people! All we *know* is he hasn't raced in forever and that he's been a loyal and dedicated test drivers for many years - Hell, maybe the car he helped develop will "suit his driving style" and he'll be quick.... I doubt it, but I'd love to see it after all the "hate" and vitriol that's been directed at him - It's one thing coming from the peanut gallery, but is unacceptable coming from Lauda, again, IMHO

    Cheers,
    Ian

That would mean, that the entire field crashed and burnt. Or a USGP 2005 kind of situation.

Badoer will not score anything. He'll be lucky to get out of Q1.

You guys should see the Euro newspapers. They are full of negative comments about BADoer. Nobody understands why he is in the 2nd Ferrari. Nobody.

Tell then its because I wasn't available;)

Truth of the matter is we won't know until he hits the track. There have been surprises in F1 before and while I don't really expect anything from him he can only "exceed expectations" at this point.
