Porsche has officially unveiled the facelifted 2010 911 GT3 RS.

Designed to be the ultimate rear-wheel drive sports car, the RS features a modified version of the GT3's 3.8-liter boxer engine. Peak output climbs to 450 hp, which is 15 hp more than the standard GT3. Backed up by a short-throw six-speed manual transmission, the new 911 GT3 RS should accelerate from 0-100 km/h in four seconds, before hitting a top speed in excess of 314 km/h (195 mph).

Other performance tweaks include a wider front and rear track, a revised suspension management system, active engine mounts (which adjust their stiffness to reduce drivetrain shuffle), and an optional lithium-ion battery (it weighs 10 kg/22 lbs less than a conventional lead battery).

In terms of styling, the RS features a unique two-tone paint scheme, extended fender flares, 19-inch wheels, a center-mounted titanium exhaust system, and a massive carbon-fiber rear wing.

The GT3 RS will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month with sales starting in Germany in January 2010. The Euro base-price is Euro 122,400.- without value-added tax and national specifications. In the U.S. the 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.

Had not seen model decals on the fenders since the 924 Carrera GT and that was 1980. I wonder how those rear tires will like all that extra downforce...

My new favorite porsche. If it could be had without the decals, it would be even better.

Looks like they let a teenager decide where to put the decals. Otherwise though, very cool.

    Love it.

I wonder how the early 997 GT3RS buyers who paid a premium for their cars are feeling right about now.

This is why I'll never buy a new Porsche. I can't think of another exotic that depreciates as badly as they do. Just look at how much '07 Turbos are going for right now.

Same goes for almost any car, but Porsches just seem that much worse.

On the other hand, they make for a screaming deal if they're used. I'm not sure how much you paid for yours, but I'm assuming somewhere around $50k? Would seem like a no brainer over an '08 M3 or something like that.

Yep and that's exactly what it came down to...M3 is a great car but $30k depreciation in3 years? $60k+ MSRP? No thanks. I'll take a used, already depreciated 997.

If you really want to see pain in the 2nd hand car market, try any modern V12 front engine Ferrari.

It's like buying an iPod - as soon as you buy the latest one, they replace it with (what is essentially) the exact same product!

It looks OK though, apart from the decals. Is there going to be a 997.2 GT2?

Add Lamborghini to the same list -- ask the new Gallardo owners. Painful.

On the other hand a depreciated Porsche 911 is one of the best bang for the buck sportscars in the world.
    993's are holding steady.
996's will continue to fall but 996GT2's and 3's will bottom out soon and begin to climb.

The worst depreciation I've seen are on Maserati Qportes. Not for the faint of heart.

I would be willing to join the "Its only money" club however.

haha...thats pretty intersting considering they were $132 brand new, and used with 5,000 miles they are selling between $115-125...Relative to any new AMG/Ferrari/any other sportscar, id say that depreciation is pretty good. Alternatively for the people who payed 30 grand above sticker, thats their own fault for "playign the game". but as a general statement, id say the gt3 rs has held on strong. Although, the more the GT3's tank, the sooner i can afford one.. ;)

As a GT3 owner I must say that while I have seen some depreciation - it is mild in comparison with the 911 turbos, Carreras and the V12 Ferraris as mentioned above. I did not purchase with an monetary exit strategy in mind (I plan on keeping mine for the long term) but so far so good.

On this RS I must say that it looks pretty ummm - fast & furious. Here's hoping that few order up the decal package. I am certain that some may like the look of all the scoops ducts and wing girth, but its all a bit to Asian car like for me these days. Each time a new one is shown it has more stuff on it. To each his own but I long for the maturity & simplicity of the 1973 2.7 RS.

As for those that "used to really love Porsches" Lots of cars are good man. No need to just like one. Just get several of each.
