Kimi Raikkonen insists he is not worried about his Formula 1 future despite the continued speculation about where he will be driving next season.

The former world champion’s 2010 plans have been clouded in uncertainty for several weeks, with speculation suggesting Ferrari is trying to move him aside so it can partner Fernando Alonso with Felipe Massa even though Raikkonen has a year left on his contract at the team.

But after claiming the team’s first victory since last November and his first for 26 races in Belgium on Sunday, Raikkonen was typically unmoved by the latest round of rumours – claiming if Ferrari has had a change of plans it hasn’t informed him.

“There have been rumours almost every year since I've been in Formula 1, so I don't really care about them,” he said after his fourth Spa victory in his last five attempts.

“I'm not worried about next year. I have a contract, so it's nothing that I should be worried about.

“I don't make the decisions in the end but we will see what happens.

“Maybe Ferrari have some other plans, but as far as I know nothing has changed.”

Raikkonen’s Spa win came on the back of two consecutive podium finishes since taking on the mantle of Ferrari’s undisputed team leader following Massa’s accident in Hungary last month, results which have helped Ferrari strengthen its grip on third in the constructors’ championship.

However the 29-year-old dismissed the idea that his recent results had come about because he had consciously upped his game to remind Ferrari of his abilities, stressing the team was now simply getting the best out of its F60.

    “Nothing has changed,” Raikkonen said.

“We found a pretty good way to work with the car. We did well in Monaco. The last race was very similar, Hungary was similar.

“This place [Spa] is a bit different than many others.

“It's purely that where the car has been strong we've been doing quite well every time. There's nothing that I've done differently.

“We've just achieved a good result now and hopefully we can keep it up. I think there will be races where it's not going to be easy for us but we can always try.”

Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali again refused to be drawn on the rumours surrounding the team’s driver line-up for 2010, although he did joke that the media was free to keep speculating if it helped Raikkonen maintain his recent good form.

“No one has said anything different from the team point of view, so this is a lot of speculation going on outside [the team],” Domenicali said.

“I really hope that you people keep on doing that, because if this is the reaction [from Kimi] then please do it day and night.

“It is important to understand the situation and I don't think this is a point of discussion that we need to put on the table today.”

...explain to me one more time why you would keep Massa and get rid of the former world champion? I think I'm still a little unclear on this.

Because as a world champion, Kimi has been outperformed by Massa in 2008, and 2009, till Massa was injured.

So ...let's just say we get rid of KR...Now you have Ferrari's #1 driver, Massa, pairing with...? Alonzo...?
And the team chemistry goes to hell even faster. Now you would have two princesses screaming for attention.
I think KR gives you a stronger team. He doesn't seem to get caught up in the drama of having a good team mate. The only thing he has ever done when threatened, is perform.

I wouldn't like Alonso/Massa. Massa has already shown some resentment and made it clear HE wanted the WDC for himself and that Kimi is just another guy on the team. With Schumacher, Massa had a healthy respect for the real #1, but it's up in the air with Kimi. We all know Fred is 100% about himself as #1 as well. Kimi simply doesn't care. :D

I think I read something here about Ferrari pushing for three cars next year? Raikkonen and Massa both have the potential to win the championship for Ferrari next year so it's a difficult situation to have to let one of them go to make way for Alonso. I guess we'll just have to see what happens...

No point in wondering who Ferrari would've rather had partner with Alonso since it's completely down to whether or not Massa ever races again.

Yeah heaven forbid the guy that comes within one point of the title wanted it for himself when the so called #1 was crawling around the track consistentantly last season.

You mean the so called #1 who actually won the title the year before?

and who has had just a bad half season in 2008 (after the team didn't develop the car the way he likes)...

    right

He didn't exactly set the world on fire in 2007. Remember that Massa was just as in the WDC race as Kimi was until he had some technical failures and then he showed he's a good team mate and helped Kimi, even in his home GP. And also remember that Kimi's title was Hamilton's to loose. All in all not a strong WDC, no matter what Kimi did the years before at McLaren.
Massa had to work for it but almost pulled it off against all odds. No wonder he has so many fans, especially on F-Chat! ;)

    So didn't Kimi help in 2008 ?
He was also on the win before having several mechanical failures.

in 2007 Kimi as the most victories of the season, tht's not impressive really...

When Kimi wins the title its mclaren that lost
But when Massa fail it's just bad luck ?

For one thing, Italians like to be constantly told that they are special. They need recognition, acceptance, love, hugging, endless attention and all sorts of camaraderie. In this regard they are worse than Mexican wives.

Now, Kimi is a real Finn who did not have the benefit of a fancy international education, upbringing or environment before his racing career. All the crap I described above is more or less useless and downright embarrassing to the average Finnish male. It can take decades to learn some of that stuff and even then one finds himself pretending through it most of the time. The Iceman thing really does apply on many levels. And in this instance it appears that the Italians involved are no more sophisticated than Kimi is. Thus, all the BS about Kimi not being "motivated" or not "caring" about the team.

Without getting any deeper into this, I speak from personal experience with every sentence. And before anyone gets too bent out of shape, Tuscany and Vallarta are two of my favorite vacation spots in the world. Their people included.

Your last paragraph just shows that you are capable of blatant patronization. That which came before just shows you are a total IDIOT.
Yes, I am Italian. And I bet I know a few more Italian's than you do, even some in Tuscany and Vallartta!

    Because Massa gives a damn.
This coming from a (former) Kimi supporter.
While his last performances have been substantial they cannot be counted on when the pressure to perform diminishes.

I totally agree; at 100% effort Kimi is the superior driver, by far.
The problem is we dont know which Kimi will show up at any particular race. Paycheck Kimi or Killer Kimi.

IMO, if you simply look on the surface, "judge a book by its cover", I'm sure there are some who would feel that the decision of keeping Massa and getting rid of a WDC is a good thing. However, if you look at the situation as a whole and with a little more detail you quickly realize that decision doesn't make much sense.

So "paycheck Kimi" is only good for 3rd in the WDC and helping secure for his team another WCC...while "killer Kimi" is good for being the fastest driver on the grid, a strong threat for a win no matter which track he's at or where he qualifies and also is always a very strong contender for a WDC.

While Massa, in one freakishly good season with all the luck in the world on his side, giving everything he possible can and being motivated to the max can only secure a second in WDC and help his team secure another WCC. Before that one freakish good season he had, his best he could do (in arguably one of the fastest cars on the grid) was achieving 3rd...54 points behind the leader.

Sorry, but I'll take Kimi every time. Giving a damn appears to only get you so far. ;)

Now, if I need a good #2 driver who is pretty consistent in scoring points for the WCC then Massa is a good choice.

I could not care less who Massa is paired up with. All i care is my beloved Scuderia starts winning, make zero mistakes, and challenge for WDC and the WCC.

Fred has definitely matured and learnt from the pass. I doubt he'll do the same childish threaten thing like he did with Mclaren. It's damaging his reputation. I'm quite sure he realizes that.

Just wait that he wins again to see how much he matured.
Being out of the spotlights has made him more modest....Put him back on the scene
and its going to be prima donna all over again.
