2005 Gallardo brake pads

I'm running Pagid autocross pads on mine with Girodisc rotors after I melted the stock pads at the track. They have a lot more initial bite so they're not a good idea for someone who needs ABS to work correctly, and no wear sensor; the redstuff's may have the same issue so just keep that in mind if you're not comfortable with dealing with a wheel lockup. Oh, the Pagid's produce a hell of a lot more dust too, so you have to wash your car and wheels frequently to prevent any issues if you run painted wheels. The Pagid's were $479 for the fronts, $274 for the rears about a year ago; still lots of pad left after 6000 more miles.

 

I would look at the carbotech brake pads. http://www.ctbrakes.com/ These pads work vary well. Look at xp8.

 

I ran EBC Greenstuff pads on one of my Vipers. I didn't like them. They seemed to deliver reduced braking over the stock pads and when they would grab they had a tendancy to lock up. My GTS has Porterfield R-4S pads on it now and these have been great. Not sure if they have a pad for the Gallardo but if so, I would highly recommend them.

 

The EBC Greens are Kevlar, and EBC admits they will INCREASE braking distance slightly, but GREATLY reduce brake dust and noise.

The EBC Reds are ceramic and while still not as good as stock pads, they are a good compromise. Less noise, less dust, very slight increase in braking distance.

 

Have not tried them but Porterfield does make pads that fit the gallardo.

 

I put EBC Yellow stuff on mine in February before a track event thinking I would use them just for the track event and I just left them on. They do not squeek at all and can also handle track day use. They dust some but less than the brembo pads that were on the car. The front do have the wear sensors. The rears though a Gallardo part number is in the EBC catalog I could not locate a set however the rear use the same pad as a Viper does (less the wear sensors) in the front 2003 and up. I just cut the wear sensor connector off the old pads and soldered the wires togethor and reinstalled to hold the wires in place. I was not worried about having wears sensors I won't be running my pads down to nothing.

Pads look fine; I run EBC red street and yellow track and for the money they simply cannot be beat. Very rotor-friendly. Also, word to the wise, buy Audi RS6 (2003 I am pretty sure) front rotors when the time comes (and these should be the same as the new R8).

My last set of EBC pads did have wear sensors in them, FWIW, but I already capped off all my wear sensor connectors with bypass adaptor to disable them made from old brake pads, as I actually maintain my car, not wait for idiot lights to come on.

The Lambo tax on replacement parts is truly offensive. The essentially identical Audi versions when available are less than 50% of Lambo parts.

 

Or go with Girodisc rotors, they're lighter, larger, two piece so you can replace just the rotor and not the hat, not drilled so you can have them turned if necessary and they'll perform better. They're also cheaper than factory but more expensive than audi's version of the same factory rotors, so right in between.

 

Yes track pads may not make as much brake force cold as they do hot but their cold friction level is probably as high as many other pads hot level however the track pads create even greater force when hot. I have used the Yellow Stuff EBC pads on my car since March have done 2 track events have not taken them off the car. They make plenty of stopping power cold.

 

By default that is correct; Lamborghini uses ATE Typ 200 fluid in the Gallardo which is gold in color when it hasn't been over heated. It will turn brown if you boil it. A popular practice though is to do a brake fluid flush using ATE Super Blue which is the same fluid but in a blue color, then it's easy to figure out when you've purged all of the old fluid, so you will sometimes find Gallardo's with blue fluid since you can alternate between the two at brake flushes.

Pick, at the most, 3 to 4 of 7. Eddie Nakato in Lake Oswego sells Cobalt pads. Amazing cold bite, the best pads (by far) I have ever used on the track, and quiet (at least in my applications). They dust crazy bad, and when the dust gets wet it forms concrete like deposits (which come off my Lotus wheels easily, but requires oven cleaner to come off of the M3 wheels). I had Ferodo 2500's on my Ferrari's. Cheap, long lasting, good bite, acceptable dust, a bit a noise, worked on the track--overall my favorite brake pads accepting all of the assorted pros and cons.

 

They were not on my cars. Feel and track performance was clearly different, and noise was slightly different. Appearance different as well.

 

Just ordered OEM RS6 rotors for front and rear. Will run Audi TRW pads. Herewith some pricing.
(Will have it fitted Monday and report back).

Dude you need a new camera not pads.

 

This is what I eventually settled on (Rear) as it does have the sensors.
