Looks are deceiving but Forza is a reputable dealer. Included is a major service...what kind? All this for $25K? WTF

Did you notice the same dealer has a red/black 308 QV (with Boxer trim), its the same year, same mileage, and its selling for $39K. So I'd be wondering about that $25K QV. Generally you get what you pay for.

    Best regards,
    Dino

I didn't buy it but, as has been noted, considering the dealer, I think someone did get a great deal.

25K for such a clean red/tan '85 QV completed with all tools??? That's crazy! I thought the market is bad but not this bad.

I'd say a good deal, not a great deal, considering the carfax-documented accident is a permanent blemish. Inconsistent odometer readings on carfax reports usually diminish 308 values by a few grand, let alone reports of accidents.

    just my 2c.

AAH HA carfax and accident...I guess that explains some of it. Mileage inconsistencies another negative.

Peter Sweeney at Forza has a good rep and has been around a long time in the same place. I figure if it was smoking deal he would have just bought it himself and put it inventory.

A guy I know called about the car. Peter was up front about the car having been in an accident and having no service records.

    Best regards,

Gentleman, these cars been around in the past 20+ years.

The question should be "How Bad Was The Accident". Most of our cars arn't virgins to the body shop and have had a dent or two.

I'd bought that car over mine, my car had less documentation, a lot more miles and I see signs of a little body work.

One thing for darn sure, I would have talked to Brian (rifledriver)first!

Remember when you were in school and the teacher used to tell us "Read the instructions BEFORE you start to answer the exam"? Well, same here. If you take 1 minute and read the vehicle description you'll have most of the answers.

    1) Was in an accident. Probably small. By Peter's description.
    2) No records. But Peter has known this car for a while.
    3) It is s Estate Sale, which is why Peter is not able to buy it for his inventory.

It looks like somebody got a GREAT deal.

The accident being noted on carfax is the biggest drawback as that will effect future value forever - even 30 years from now when 308s are being auctioned off for big bucks in Monterey.

Any guesses as to what this particular car's true market value is right now given the info we have? I'd say high-$20s at the absolute max.

According to my friend that called about the car, it had been in an accident with a stationary object, but the body panel gaps look good. No info on how big the object was or how much damage was done.

There is a market for every car. Some people want an average driver, others want something a bit nicer, and others a car with all service records in pristine condition that can be shown at a competitive level. For me this car isn't a great deal, because I would not be happy with a car in that condition, but if might be a fantastic deal for others. It all depends on what makes someone happy.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Possibilities on a car coming from an estate:

-No one in the deceased owner's family is interested in the car; they want or need the money ASAP

-The IRS is piling up I&P on unpaid taxes.

-Family is under court order to settle estate by a certain date, especially if there's been a serious fight over an inheritance

    -all of the above.

I bought my car from Peter, he was forthcoming and no-pressure about everything, would buy from him again.

Seems like there have been quite a few sales lately. This one, AHudson's black 328, both discussed on the first page on this forum, and both sold within a matter of days, in the last week, are just a couple of examples.

As always, decent cars, realistically priced, sell.

Yup -- as long as they are priced low enough.

Market's kinda thin for the dreamer seller though.
