With little over a week before the Monza Weekend kicks off, Ferrari have still to make an announcement over who will be in Massa's seat. Does anyone not find this to be rather strange ? Why the wait?

It looks like there not too interested in placing a driver in for the remaining races, who will take there "Ferrari" knowledge to another team in 2010.

Its also clear that they can't continue with a driver who has no chance in finishing in the points. Surely Badoer is out ?

Is the hold up due to Contacts?
Or are Ferrari possibly stalling the announcement due to the poorly handled "Schumi return" episode?
Or is it possible, and this is long shot, that Schumi himself is in the shout to take the seat, and there waiting to see the out come of more medical test results ( he is still training and karting after all) ?

    Anyone have any ideas ?

Maybe they haven't decided who will take the place or if Badoer will get another chance.

It is strange. I thought they were going to make an announcement on Wednesday. The latest rumours seem to be linking Kubica with the seat, but I'd prefer Fisichella.

Edit: Richard Noble from Autosport has just Twittered:
I've got my fingers crossed for Fisico!

I'll go for Fisi for reasons mentioned in another thread - couple with the fact FI still has a monetary obligation to Ferrari, perhaps that could be a chip in the game and as I mentioned elsewhere, "If Fisi plans to retire at the end of this year, he'd be the perfect person to finish the remaining races and then become the "test driver", meanwhile concentrating on his GP2 team. Ferrari is talking about a Ferrari Young Driver program and Fisi would also fit into that program with having a team and working with the upstarts.

Why no one else, Ferrari wouldn't want Kubica or the like in there for a few races then sign with XYZ team for 2010 as they would have an insight as to how the Ferrari systems work and would then move on elsewhere. Ferrari needs someone who might get some points and end their season on a high note and information left with Ferrari. This is where Fisi fit the bill."

As Andreas said that would necessitate being logical, something which hasn't occurred of late BUT...hopefully Ferrari won't prove me wrong in my thoughts -CK

Yeah, from what I hear he is currently rolling backwards down Eau Rouge due to a "lack of momentum" :D

So what does that say about Mallya denying, denying, denying it all week??

A 'no comment' would have made him look better. Now he looks like a fool IMHO after the what he's repeatedly said all week.

so what does Vijay's comment, "Furthermore the agreement will secure Giancarlo's long-term future with Ferrari" mean?

" Force India is understood to have outstanding debts with Ferrari left over from its customer engine supply deal that ended last year - but Mallya said that commercial factors did not have a role in the outcome.

"We would like to stress that we have not agreed any financial settlement with Ferrari," he said. "This agreement has been made in good faith and for the good of Giancarlo and the sport in general. "

    Pass the salt please.

It doesn't say anything about him. If Ferrari made no approach until 24 hours ago he was being entirely factual and accurate when he denied the story.
