Bullet Proof Windows

We once had my Aunts Toyota Sequoia bullet proofed (long story) to a I believe Class 6 which I think same class they use for the US President. This Includes windshield, all four doors glass, and the rear window, on top of this the four tires and a spare are also bullet proof. They also added a 1 1/2 inch steel plate behind the back seat in the trunk. Total cost was I think close to $75,000. I'll find out who and where they had it done.

Might be cheaper to buy a car that's already had this done. I remember seeing some for sale a few years back.

whats the threat level? the no. 1 question first. having installed large amounts of dyneema, ceramic / kevlar backed panels, the BIG question is stopping power. be very careful what you sign up for and make sure you understand what your getting quoted on.

I see it on the LA Craigslist every now and then, pre-bulletproofed cars (X5, S65 were most common), I believe it was "Texas Armoring" or something that did them. They'll do any car apparently, but it adds a lot of weight.

I have a factory armored 2004 Cadillac Deville with 8" stretch that I might consider selling. It weighs over 7000 lbs, I think. Comes with special run flats, and anti-sparking and self-sealing gas tank too.

 

I've actually sat in the President's last-gen armored limo, and trust me, it's a ground-up custom vehicle.... just looks like a Caddy. It's actually very tight inside. That's about all I can say about that
