we are doing this the end of september...i dont have a car (In shop for annual, belts, clutch, fluids, and other stuff) so i had to scrub it.
No problem, Tom B. and I took a ride up to Stuart and had lunch at PA BBQ anyway. I'm signed up for next Thursday, going to sign up Lisa's dad also. BT
Update on the event. Going to be REALLY great! About 20 cars participating in the track event, and at least 30 cars attending for the car meet. Will be nearly 70 people altogether when said and done. All sports & exotics- Ferrari's, Lambo's, Porsches, Moslers, etc. Come on up! There are only a few spots left!! http://www.***********.com/schedule-registration/2009/9/10/september-10th-palm-beach-intl-raceway-track-event-go-fast-m.html
Just signed up. I have to have rotator cuff surgery in a few days, so I might as well get some driving time in, since I wont be able to drive a stick for about a month
Man, what an awesome time tonight! First the weather looked semi-crappy, but appeard to be clearing so we took the Ginetta. Got to the track and parked, got the wristband, talked a bit with a few car owners. Then I went to watch some of the group 1 and 2 cars at speed from inside the qeueing area. Went to the VIP tent and had a cold beverage. Then I tried out the race simulator, it was really awesome! I got the hang of it and made a few good turns and one complete lap without totalling the sim car. Went to watch a few more cars at speed. The IMSA lights car was really fun to watch. Then a nice dinner with some Cheeseburgers, BBQ chicken, and really good brownies, too. Guy made a nice speech and introduced all the pro drivers that he has available to teach the novices at his events. The depth of experience and skill these people have is very impressive. After another half hour hanging around talking about cars we went out on the track for a few parade laps. We went 6 times around IIRC, and it was lots more fun than I expected. Just cruising through the turns at 45ish was nice and smooth. I know we weren't going full speed, but it seems like we were going along nicely for much of the ride. Everyone stayed in line, nobody did anything dumb. I think it is a great way to get a feel for the track. You can pick your line and enjoy the drive. Then we got some T-shirts to remember this event by (nice, high quality too!). I'm wearing my tshirt to work tomorrow. Finally we got to ride in our own cars with the pro drivers at the wheel for a hot lap. Man, what a rush! I was amazed at the controlled chaos that seemd natural to the driver I was with (Andrew I think). Afterwards I was all smiles, and got to see a few shots the photographer got while I was out there. They are going to be posted on Guy's website tomorrow, I can't wait to see them full screen!!! Finally, headed home with the cool clouds hanging over the car the entire way. As we turned into our development the rain began to fall, perfect timing!!! Thanks a ton John and Guy, this was a first class event that really showed everyone what great enthusiasm you have for motorsports and cars in general. There was no pretense, and lots of good times! I haven't had such a fun time at the track since I was at the Ferrari Challenge at Homestead a few years ago. You guys (weak pun intended) are very generous and it is truly appreciated. Way to go!!! BT
+1 Couldnt of said it better myself. I think I got my Gallardo up to about 140 in the straight aways.
+2 On Bill's comment..........I wasn't able to bring the Dino, but reached 120 in my friend's BMW with 4 people in it!! We all had a great time. Thanks again John G. & Guy C.
"Wow...That was amazing!"......"Oh My God, Incredible!"......"Man, That was awesome!". Just some of the words from peoples mouths after they got off the track last night. I for one was speechless. What a truly amazing and awesome night. The evening could not have been more perfect. All in all we have over 100 people there, and 40+ exotics parked on the tarmac. This is a new Go Fast Motorcars record. For those that came, thank you for joining us and making last evenings track event another success. I cannot say this enough...the professionalism, courtesy and hospitality of Guy Cosmo cannot be paralleled by any other group. The Cosmo Sport team did an outstanding job putting the track together. Ryan kept Guy's engine going with the schedule and signups, the caterers did a lovely job, and the staff ensured a smooth operation last night. The 45 mph (cough, BS) pace laps were a excellent way to experience your exotic in an environment that a sheriff officers could only dream of writing you a ticket for. Then to kick things up a notch, (BAMM!) having professional race car drivers take you around the track at full speed was a nice treat. We are already working on the next track event logistics, and it will actually include more then what we all received last night. There was a couple professional photographers their last night and I am currently awaiting Guy to post the pictures of the event to share with you all. I believe these will be on Cosmo Sport and I will post some pics on our club website. So special thanks to Guy, Ryan, PBIR, RJ Hunt, Bill, and the entire Cosmo Sport and Go Fast Motorcars group for participating in our inaugural track event.
