Hey I did the sums on a few cars and they were more than that...on this site the cheapest is still 25K pounds which equates to around the 50KAUD mark + shipping+taxes+compliance and you go past the 60K mark and to do it properly you really need to have a look at the car so there is that cost as well

there is lower like this one at 22.5k UK Pounds

    http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/64474

dont forget these prices are the 'asking' price from the seller

though that car needs the belts done... still its 'cheap' and thats fits Carlo's criteria ;)

anyone ever heard of this 'comfort pack'???

Only RHD orignal factory Challenge with comfort pack in the world!! There were 109 challenges made of which this is one of 13 RHD and is only one of 2 with the comfort pack (the other was LHD ). This is a rare chance for a collector to aquire a piece of Maranello history priced at standard F355 money!
    Much recent expenditure including:-
10/07/09 £4294 Anual service plus bits and pieces including new Air and Lamba Sensors and fitting supplied new Cat convertors.
26/11/08 £5245 Including new cam belts and engine strip with all new gaskets.
I also have 11 past MOT certificates to back up millage.
Just to end rumours the first owner was NOT Alain Prost!
Please there will be no test pilots. Export will be responsibility of purchaser and car will not be released until funds cleared. Viewing near Bristol. No canvassers!!
    355

    I don't even think it's a challenge. small brakes.

Asked a few questions and got the following information from the seller a couple of weeks ago:

"Sorry for delay. Reg docs show 3 previous owners. I've only had the car a month as it was a speculative purchase being in the right place at the right time. Believe car UK delivered and have spoken with Marenello Consessioneers who have confirmed that this was / is a genuine challenge model. The Catalytic convertors are aftermarket ones. I had the door kickplates replaced and the owner of the bodyshop who did the work said the car was straight and didn't look like it had been in any accidents though has had some cosmetic paint over the tears. On the passenger side door there is a small black triangular piece where the glass meets the top of the door by the door interior locking bit that has some bubbling. If you look very carefully at the leading edge of the bonnet there are a few feint bubbles 1cm x 3 cm area (this is NOT rust as the bonnet is carbon fibre) and for those reasons will rate car 9/10 cosmetically.
On the engine strip down Nov '08 can see crank was polished and con-rods were checked for size. All seals and gaskets were replace plus bearings / big end bearings / cam belts and exhaust manifolds re-built. So mechanically based on the very recent expediture would say car at least 9/10 (personally I 'm not good mechanically but happy for you to have car checked at your expense).
The price has been pitched at mid Berlinetta money even though this is a very collectable car (I've done this as obviously you are buying from an enthusiast who is just looking to use the car for a few months rather than a dealer ).
Anything else please let me know. I have had a couple of offers of interesting part-exchanges one being a Porsche 964/5 Turbo which may be interesed in and a Bently...no thanks wouldn't want to drive it."

Apart from the rear grille, there are no challenge bits visible on this car - ie wheels, seats, roll cage, big brakes, wing, etc.
It's a very *discreet* challenge car LOL.

Now if those bits came with the car, it would be a different matter....

And I've never heard of the comfort pack either

Thanks James. Quite interesting, although I don't know that it tells us much.

I can't think of a reason why anyone would remove the brakes. That's just weird. Maybe all the challenge bits come in a box or 10...who knows.

    Probably! :D:D

Or the previous owner liked them ALOT so he removed them and replaced with stock brakes. :):)

Who knows, but it is VERY odd if it really is a CH. :):)

There is also a yellow one for sale, my mate looked at that about 4 months ago. He ended up getting a 993 Turbo from Brisbane instead.

He's only owned the car for a few months - I believe its the same one that was advertised over there a few months back (on p/heads). He advises that another interested party has had the VIN checked out and confirmed as a challenge. Have asked for the VIN. I don't think there are any extras that come with it. Interestingly, there was another one for sale over there a while back which also had pretty much no challenge parts on it - I believe it was delivered new to Malaysia?, imported to UK and converted to road car parts. Investigated that one and got the impression that it had some previous accident issues. Don't really understand why they seem to like removing the challenge parts from these cars - assuming they are genuine CH cars.
