I realize this is personal taste at play, this is an official Ferrari approved new custom Ferrari, in reality based on an F430. I am not sure if it is an improvement, but I just do not think it deserves the hype. The P4/5, absolutely something beautiful, the recent Zagatos yes very nice, but this, is just to cartoonish. Just my opinion. Its also on the cover of the new Cavallino magazine: Image Unavailable, Please Login
If I was gonna spend the outrageous sums needed to have a custom ferrari made....it definitely wouldn't look like this.
IMHO what's important is not the car itself but the resurgence of coach building. Thanks to the guy who started it.
The center of the nose is a little strange, but I like it over all. What I don't understand is reading about it in Cavallino, they imply that it is its own model, unlike P4/5 which they imply as "just" an Enzo rebodied, yet it was built on a F430.... So how is the SP1 not "just" a rebodied F430?
There are a lot of things that are printed in Cavallino that are silly. Luca d'Montezelmo agreed with Andrea Pininfarina that Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina would be officially recognized by Ferrari and so badged and and exactly what it's official name would be. Enzo Ferrari's first name is not part of that name. Ferrari P 4/5 by Pininfarina is vastly different from an Enzo in over 200 unique engineered systems.
If it's to have it's own name designation shouldn't it look like no other Ferrari? It just looks like a slightly restyled 430. Thumbs down.
The one individual that brought the most attention to the resurgence of this art of custom coachbuilding is James Glickenhaus. The P4/5 is known worldwide.
I'm old, so it takes a while for news to get to me. I just found out last week that Schumacher retired from F1.
