I feel like I've won something! I think this means that Mel needs to buy my Fchat renewal or lunch in Belgium. We also have a 'new' 1994 TR owner 'RickyN F355' who's getting #97027, thus proud owner of the 'new' gearbox too.
Well finally today I was able to crawl under the car and check out the transmision number. I bought my car last year and always was curious if it had the forged carrier and other updates. I didn't think it did at first because of it's date of mfg was April 1993 I presumed it was an early 94. Maybe because it is a Canadian car it is a "later 94" after all. Here are my numbers for reference. Trans #1754 Engine #34469 Assembly #14140 (anyone know what this number means?) VIN #96982 Thank you everyone for making this information available. Adam

All 512 TRs have an assembly number, which can be found on a small plate at the right side of the engine compartment. See the attached photo (green arrow), which is of my own car when the engine was out. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Guys, is it safe to say, that if the car has the new style Pininfarina badges on the side, then it also has all the technical upgrades?
That change was done in early 1993, when the production of the 512 TR bodies moved from Pininfarina to Ferrari. It's indeed in the same period of other changes like the improved gearbox and the introduction of ABS. So, it seems "OK", but I would always double check using the gearbox number (see earlier in this thread).
you never know if the gear box in your car is the original gearbox. also you not know if the inside of the gearbox also is the original matching to the GB or modified. so gearbox numbers say nothing when you not know the history.
Thanks; where on the engine is the engine number? I’ll get my numbers from 97598 next chance I get under it.
