I think Renault is gone after this and it increases Freddy's chances of ending up at Ferrari. Forcing a team to use a cosworth engine is ridicous.
So what is going to happen to that lawsuit that Renault threw at the Piquets accusing them of making the entire thing up??
unless he's part of the escapade......I suspect this is just perhaps part of the reason he was not announced as part of the driver line-up at Monza.....could be wrong..... wonder who's going to assume the reins at Renault for the remainder of the season? Carol
Fact is that teams have been doing dodgy stuff forever and Max Mosely is on a particular witch hunt against three men: Ron Denis (got him), Flavio Briatore (got him), and Luca Di Montezemolo (God knows how he'll try to pull that one off). Those three guys have been trying for years to do stuff for the best interest of the sport while Max and Bernie have wanted to run the show their way. Don't be fooled this is not about sport or fair play. It is an ego game with Max at the helm; he could care less what happens to F1 as long as he gets his way.
Actually that's the most complete translation i've read so far; Sounds like a big "mess in the action" ,you really can't tell from this that there was something planified. interresting
I expect the number of pregnant Super-models to increase dramatically as Flav now has more time on his hands!
Absolutely correct - there's some other sites with the transcript but when you look at them, they've been edited for readibility - and after reading thru this transcript, I had to ask myself the question where did they say to crash into the wall - Flavio was very adamant about his feeling for Piquet Jr. Big Mess... I vote the "the pinnacle of motorsports, F1" as a nominee for the Emmy Awards for the Best Soap Opera of 2009. Carol
+1 Now that Flav has all this free time he can relax on his boat and further contaminate the gentic pool. As for Renault the are now placed in my book of total losers along with McLaren.
Why do I get the feeling this is a precursor to Flav tossing his hat into the ring for FIA president? This may well wind up getting "spin" as 'Briatore "taking one" to save F1 from another scandal fight -- which Max was determined to press for his own reasons'. Sounds like standard campaign rhetoric to me. Of course, there could have been all sorts of back room deals going on behind this, as well. Maybe, in exchange, Max promised to retire.
just got this hot off the press... From Ferrari Market Letter The ING Renault F1 Team has announced that it will not dispute the recent allegations made by the FIA concerning the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix. It also wishes to state that its managing director, Flavio Briatore and its executive director of engineering, Pat Symonds, have left the team. Before attending the hearing before the FIA World Motor Sport Council in Paris on 21 September 2009, the team will not make any further comment.
Sad.... I still maintain that those who think these sorts of things don't happen with regularity are naive. So in the past handful of years, we know McLaren, Renault, Toyota, Honda, and Ferrari have all cheated. It's not reasonable to think other teams haven't also. Honda was smacked pretty hard. Renault was let off scot-free (the first time). McLaren was smacked ultra hard. Ferrari was given a pass. Toyota was given a pass. What would be fair, given recent events, is a >$100mm fine for Renault and a loss of all constructor points for 2008, which would mean them paying back the money to Bernie. What will likely happen is that Max has gotten what he wanted, Flavio, and so Renault will be given another pass and not be given a penalty fitting the crime.
Sad....they need to be smacked and LdM is wondering why attendance is down? The fix is in folks....stay home and watch the mess for free. I wanted those folks in court Monday. I agree no penalty fitting the crime at all. Just more hot air from a lame and defunct FIA.
What a stupid way to end a glorious career. Flavio was a breath of fresh air when he arrived in the early 90's. Over the years, his ego became uncontainable...and as the good book says...'pride goeth before a fall'. In the past few years, he has become a gross caricature of himself, and this is the sad denoument of his life's work. What a waste. I also think that taking advantage of a rather mentally fragile young driver, and suggesting he do something that could have resulted in injury or death is contemptible. Flav, you should be ashamed.
In effect this has opened a can of worms, think about the prize money Renault have deprived the other teams which may run into the millions. And what about the gamblers who bet money on anyone other than Alonso to win in Singapore last year and lost money as a result!!. It's a stinking mess and I blame Mosley, he let things slip with one team brings the hammer down on others, nothing is straight forward cutting deals personal dislike effecting outcomes, thats why Flav and PS have gone to try and leesen the blow, samre at Mclaren with Ron Dennis, I hate it, it's corrupt and Mosley is to blame for creating a corrupt system because he himself is head of it. If Ari does not get the job FIA and rids F1 of all this sh!te, I'm seriously going to take alot less interest in this sport.
Maybe he is or maybe he isn't jesting, but did you have to call him "Shirley?" The F1 soap opera just never ceases to come up with "Say What?!" moments in recent years. What will they do for an encore? More importantly, will Mad Max remember to leave the gun and take the cannoli if/when he gets Luca di M?
