I would politely suggest that you drop the snooty attitude and stop insulting nationalities as general group. It adds nothing to your argument. The wheels as originally designed were not intended for tubeless tires but I've had some local expert tire guys (he works for Pirelli during the Rolex series over here) look these rims over and he thinks it's not an issue using the tubeless tires without tubes or with them for that matter. The only time someone might want the tubes is if they have a slow leak in the rim and frankly if it were me I'd want to get to the bottom of that issue anyway. If no structural flaws were discovered then I'd just have the rims sealed before refinishing them. So maybe the rims leak on this car or the guy didn't know what he was doing but as general rule, NO we don't fit tubes on tubeless tires over here. Also, keep this in mind as you continue to discover more abominations on this car. Espadas have been low life Lamborghini's for an awfully long time. Cars like that don't tend to end up in the hands of good owners or get good service when their repair to value ratio is so skewed. Bob S.
Was not my intention to offense you Bob... but I was expecting more sense of humor from L-Chat fellows... as anyone can make mistake in USA or anywhere else worldwide, relax... Unfortunately in this case, #8011 is just coming from USA where it has lived quiet a few years, isn'it. I would say also #8011 was so well advertised on Ebay - tricky advertisment - and described as a very good car, with a good strong engine well maintained... in comparison to what we've noticed since its in our hands... god dam the fellow who bought it should have done the trip to USA before buying it...but who is making such a trip with such distance ? ( I do...he didn't) Making his calculations, my LCB member should have keep his money and bought Patrick's very nice Espada S2 for quiet the same budget !!! Ciao, Olivier LCB President
It's light blue with tan interior right? How long ago was that on Ebay as I don't remember it unless it's from 3+ years ago? Well maintained cars are almost never for sale. I've seen maybe and not certain about 3 since I bought my "project" Three years ago. One of them was a complete restoration that was no concours winning example but probably it was reliable and everything was new. That recent green one Ebay that sold, then came back on Ebay, had a listing issue and was re-listed is no longer on there. Maybe it sold? It looked nice but until you really check things out there might be plenty to be done. Most cars for sale here range from dogs or double dogs to "some issues but worth a try". Bob S.
The ebay listing was in January 2009. Reserve not met and car was described as: Paint: Okay but there are some cracks Body: No dents; a little bit of rust on the chassis; some seals need to be replaced Interior: Door panels/middle console/dashboard needs to be restored; seats need a professional cleaning Engine: Engine is running; fuel pump is defective will be fixed, engine needs a good detailing
Ah that's why I missed it I think I was out of Internet touch atthe time. That diescription certainly doesn't sound like a very good car, with a good strong engine well maintained. It sounds like a typical Espada up for sale - lots of work. Bob S.
Correct kevin, and I will add that additional infos from seller were friendly uncorect because things he said are not matching reality. Transaction was concluded in begining of february then by trailer brought to shipping company, then waiting weeks for shipping on boat + 8 weeks sea travel = 3 more weeks to get documents at Havre harbour in France for custom clearance. With holidays, Antoine's workshop was closed, so we it last 17th august...noticing partially what I already described in this thread...a whole mess !
Last Saturday I took Espada S1 #7159 out for its first drive after a major engine freshening and she was fantastic. We drove down to the unveiling of the new Balboni edition Gallardo at Lamborghini Chicago. Valentino was there, and he got a big kick out of seeing the Espada, as it was the only vintage Lamborghini in attendance and was built just about when he started working at Lamborghini. He said she was "Bellissima", signed the engine bay and thanked me for taking such good care of her. That, together with an exhilarating drive to and from, made all the headaches, waiting and work all worth while. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yesterday at our Italian Concours d'Elegance, after years of sleeping this S3 resurfaced in an event and with the LCB of course !!! VIN 9204...in the same family's hands ! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This one is "game over"... for ever. #8718 was dismantled as donor car... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ouch! I bought a car with similar damage this year. Instead of an Espada it was a humble Austin 1300 GT though... Also a write-off, but as with the Espada the parts helped to keep another classic on the road.
Does anyone know what car has a similair wiper relay to an espada? Is the one which gives the intermitent wipe and park? is it the Fiat coupe? or spyder? Hope you can help Paul Scotland
Espada vin # on this cars are, 2 top pic 7647, and bottom pics 7542 and 8368. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=138237939&postcount=281
some yes, but the owner wants top $$$$ for them... many parts like engine, gearbox, bumpers are gone already...
Missing from the photo is the assymetrical hood grill on the Maserati, which knocks it out of contention in my book. The Ferrari is too generic. Kudos Espada!
can someone show me or tell me how to obtain colours for this year . I plan to paint my car this winter but i cannot live with the original oro di mettallico.I would like to stick to a lambo colour of that vintage however. I know purists will hate me but remember ... i own it. Gary
