F1 road shows are free the results the folk that come are massive Alonso performed on the streets of Alonso’s home town of Oviedo in front of 170,000 spectators 95,000 more than were present on race day at Monza!

Serious race fans will pay £200 a pop to watch a race, charge £20.00 they would be totally sold out IMO.

The problem is Capital Partners took a couple of billion in loans secured on the future revenues of the sport. CVC turned F1 into a cash cow for its get-rich-quick schemes.

Bad move for all concerned apart from Hecklestone.

Anyone else thinking that we'd all be better off if FOTA had gone through with their threatened split and started a new series?

ABSOLUTELY YES. But...it still could have occurred.

There would have been saving grace to Formula 1, now it's become a world-wide laughable joke of what is reputed to be the "pinnacle of motorsports" - now more like the "pinnacle of motorsports race fixing, espionage, arrogance, international law violations, blackmail...etc."

    Carol,
My thinking is that if FOTA were starting with a clean sheet they wouldn't have the stigma that the FIA series does and that reforms would be easier (and more likely) to be adopted.

i'd like to see a thursday practice/testing session. indy had a nice pit walk thru for free and if you got in early enough to get a pass they had a nice free meet the driver/ autograph/photo session as well. you could also get autographs at the parking lot and speak with the team members too. they also had the lowest ticket prices in the sport.

Attendance slides are not only a result of high price. IMO people if they're going to watch the circus would rather watch it on TV or the net for free. I wouldn't be surprised if viewership is down because people are fed up and have decided to tune out altogether.

That includes the teams, BE and FIA. Then maybe the fans will come back. We care about the sport, not your corporate intrigue.
