In the last few years, the only dignity I've seen in F-1 was Massa being a gentleman after he had lost the title on the last lap of 2008. First class all the way.
My first F-1 race in person was the 1967 British GP, and after following and visiting with Dan Gurney over the decades, I guess my standards and expectations of sportsmanship are too high for today's F-1. At first I thought I was just another grouchy old fart (53) dreaming abouit the past, but I've seen sportsmanship exhibited in other forms of racing, so maybe not!
Example: 1995 Daytona 24, which featured Ferrari's return to prototype racing. For some reason (compression loss, it was said) the leading Ferrari had to be push started after pit stops. At 3:00 am I was in the pit box next to the leading 333SP, and the exhausted crew pushed the car 50 yards, but it still wouldn't start. At this point, crew members FROM OTHER PIT CREWS joined in and pushed the car another 60 yards before it fired up. My belief is that they were all happy to see Ferrari return, realized it was good for the sport, and wanted to see the race played out on the track.
Any gestures like that in F-1 recently?

+2 leave the championship alone. Lewis won it and as far as the gambling crisis, when I bet on a car to win a race and they don't for whatever reason I still lose. It's a gamble when betting on something where anything can happen. Did Renault cheat? Yes they did, but did they fix the race? I don't think they did, instead I think they put there driver at a spot to win it and Alonso did what he is best at.

    Just my $0.02

Wow, they're throwing o'l Flav to the wolves. In a sport that thrives on being rigged it seems a tad contradictory. The moth got a little too close to the flame for whatever reason.

    My $.02 as well.....

    1) Alonso is disqualified from the from the '08 Singapore GP and loses those points. The remaining finishers retain their positions, they do not move up, they do not gain extra points. The '08 Championship stands. You can't un-ring a bell.

    2) Renault is assessed a large fine and loses all constructor points for '09.

    3) Symmonds and Briatore are banned for life from any involvement in international motorsports at any level. This includes direct involvement or involvement by companies or organizations that they have a substantive interest in. Flav can no longer be a manager to any driver holding an international license. Neither of them should be allowed to show their faces at a GP again.

    4) Renault should sue Symmonds and Briatore for whatever they were paid for '08 and '09.

    5) Singapore should bring charges against Symmonds and Briatore, try them and if found guilty, a hefty fine and a lifetime ban from the country.

I wonder if either Symmonds or Flav laid any bets on Alonso to win that race?
