I went in 06 with my better half and there were no rooms to be found in Monte Carlo four months out- I'd imagine the rooms are probably already sold out for the GP, but an Fchat local will obviously know better than me.

If the wives are going, I'd suggest looking for something in the village of Eze, which is where we ended up. It's a very short and stunning drive to Monte Carlo and I promise that you'll be able to bank some good will with the wife if you staying there!

It's a 1000 year old (I think) village on top of a cliff overlooking the sea - truly an unforgettable, fairytale-like place. I can't speak to the other hotels up there, but the Chateau Eze was fantastic & even has access to a private beach if the ladies favor lounging in the sun over the sound of F1 cars screaming through the streets. Good luck & book early.

too bad you can't exchange your tickets for the Monaco Historics ! ! that's where we go, awesome racing (lots of it on Saturday and Sunday), cheap tickets, no assigned seats in Grandstand K, less crowd, awesome yachts in the harbor

at this point you may want to look at places in Nice but they too may be gone (train is cheap and short ride)

forget that Chateau Eze place NA http://www.chateaueza.com/2010/5/17/1/1/1/0/reservations.hotels 4 night minimun and cheapest is 625€ per night!

I went to Monaco a couple of years ago and booked my room in Nice through easyjet.com - I think that hotels.com also has rooms there. I booked in January and got rooms at very reasonable rates (less than $150/night if I recall).

    enjoy the trip!

I've been attending the GP de Monaco yearly since '92, so you might want to search for the various previous threads to which I've posted with lots of gory details. The brief summary: (1) Start checking the Automobile Club de Monaco website (www.acm.mc) daily in early December- when the tickets go on sale on-line you can buy whatever seats you like at face value during the brief period before the good ones sell out. The site has an interactive feature whereby you can check out the details of each grandstand and available seats therein. Buy a 3-day ticket (Thursday practice, Saturday qualifying & Sunday race) in a good location (I like the low-numbered K grandstands down by the harbor, but to each his own) and you'll pay nearly $1K/seat at current exchange rates. (2) Rooms in Monaco are very scarce and equally pricey. IF you can find one they start at about $400/night with a minimum 5-night stay and go up precipitously from there. Let me know and I can send you contact info for pretty much every one in town or in nearby Beausoleil, Cap d'Ail, etc.- if that's not in the budget, there are lots of hotels in Nice in varying price ranges- just be sure to book travel to Monaco on race day in advance, as I'm told that the trains are becoming a hassle and driving in is tough due to parking issues. Almost all Monaco hotels are already booked for 2010, and some for a couple of years thereafter, as folks like me reserve them from year-to-year and several hotels in town have closed in recent years (although a couple of new ones have opened). Hope this helps.

Have been to the race a couple of time - last was 2007. Last time stayed outside Nice in Vence. It's up in the hills and a beautiful location - St.Paul de Vence is nearby.. Very easy to drive to the local train station to get to Monaco.

We stayed at Hotel Cantemerle, booked in advance, and would do it again.
www.cantemerle-hotel-vence.com/ There are many other options so you need to do a little homework about the area.

    Good luck!

We stayed in Nice at Palais de la Mediteranee twice.Great place a bit pricey(but cheaper than Monaco).
Used the train with no problems. Also used helicopter(Monaco Air)for qualifications.5 minutes and you're there.
