so I have only had a F for a bit over a month, my daily driver is a RangeRover sport SC, but I also have an M5 that doesn't get much time these days - I guess I am thinking of selling it someday soon. then my wife has her car that we drive when we all go somewhere. I guess my question is, for you guys that have many cars, how do you really have time to drive more than 2-3 cars? I just don't seem to have it.

For a long time i used my viper as my daily driver with the 355 as the weekend car. With a Benz and a Pathfinder for the rare times I needed more people.

Everyday the thought crosses my mind to get a car i don't have to worry about so much. A car i can leave and forget about awhile, or use to go to the movies or non-ferrari related functions. But then i tell myself, i'd only be wishing i was in my F car. So why spend the money. But i think soon i will buy an older ducati for that reason.

Sorry you got a lemon. I'm on my 8th RR (full sizes & sports) and I've had one since they were non-grey market in the US in 1988. Never had them sit in the shop for more than the oil change or some warranty part replacement which took a day.

F-car, I'm used to a week for a minor thing like a clutch job etc... Two-Three for an engine-out.

Out of curiosity, what cars do you own? I mean, I'd imagine the 3 Ferraris would be the weekend cars--- one for Friday, another for Saturday and the third for Sunday. *shrug*

I don't, which is why two cars for me is enough.

Having a Ferrari and a normal car meets all my needs. If I had kids, I could see a Range Rover, but -- I don't. So I have a DSG-equipped Audi TT coupe to carry the groceries/stuff and drive in normal traffic, to the airport, etc.

Ferrari: stick shift, convertible (targa), sports car, gorgeous, sounds great, etc.
Audi: paddle/automatic, coupe, comfortable touring car, reasonably practical, etc.

Given California's registration fees, I can't see having other cars sitting around on a whim.

    I have the F355B as the fun machine, and a 4Runner for the go anywhere, do anything, haul anything kind of vehicle. {I also have access to my wife's Prius, and she to my 4Runner--luckily she cannot drive a stick, nor wants to be in the Ferrari}

I've got a 308 gtbi i use daily and have a heavily modified (hot rod so to speak) 308 gtbi i play with on weekends. For special events i drive my F40, but lately it has been sitting in a garage with the turbos off till i get time to replace them. Kind of stuck on the 80's things. I bought the F40 to "back up" its little cousins. Sort of like walking quietly carrying a big stick. Love my 308 2v for daily drivers. So user friendly abet no cargo room.

type of cars, how many and what kind are highly influenced by where one lives.

I try to drive the 360 Spider at least once a week in the summer. There are so many things to do here (hiking, fishing, concerts, etc) it is difficult to work in more than that. In the winter the roads are dry enough that usually can take the 360 out every 2 or three weeks.

We now have a Subaru Forester turbo and a new Outback Turbo for daily drivers. All wheel drive is nice in the winter. And the Subs are fun to drive with stick shifts.

You don't really "need' a car here so having three is overkill. Downtown is only six blocks square. the grocery, hardware and wine store are two blocks away from home. And then we have free shuttle service that is a 1/4 block away from the front of our place. And we have good bus service down valley. We belong to the Timbers Club and they pick me up and bring me home for skiing so I don't have to hassle with skis and boots, etc. We have some friends who no motorized vehicles. Having a car is a real luxury but the vast majority have at least one car, most of them SUVs.

If I lived in So Calif every vehicle would be a convertible.

    Life is good.

A woman driving an SUV did not slow down at a stop light and hit the Boxster going about 50 MPH and totaled the car. We had minor injuries but are lucky to be alive. Decided to get a Subaru because obviously the orient red metalic Porsche was too hard to see (this is the second time we were rear ended in two months, the first time was minor.

My wife loved that car and really misses it. the Outback is much more practical. we don't "need" two convertibles. And they gave us a great deal on the Outback. RIP Boxster.

Sorry to hear your wife got shafted to a Subaru, but I'm glad you two are okay.

(I'm in the market for a Subaru, so I mean no disrespect. I only imagine that the boxster was more fun.)

My daily driver is a NYC Taxi, so I guess all my cars are weekend drivers. The Cayenne Turbo gets us to and from our weekend place in the Catskills, after that it is either the Ferrari 430 Spider or the Spyker C8 Spyder. I even take the trash to the dump with the Spyker or the Ferrari.

As one of the resident eccentrics on Chat, my DD is a '98 Tracker bought new. No back seat. Can haul the better part of most supermarkets and get up my hill in snow. 30mpg anywhere, in perfect shape. 'Till death do us part. Wife drives the MB. Better she than I.
When we go somewhere with the dogs, we take the Highlander which also gets up the hill in snow. For good weather trips and outings we take the T-Bird. Nobody bothers T-Birds. Hence, no worries. The 575 goes out every Saturday and Sunday. Out for breakfast at the crack of dawn and back home by 9:30AM before the Wal-Mart maniacs come out and most cops are still half asleep. Fun is what it's about. I've downsized to this group of five.

    All --

A Ferrari is just a car, sorry. A motor, 4 wheels, transmission and so on. So hell yes, a Ferrari can be a daily driver. The question is why? Are you trying to prove a point? If so, nobody cares.

Ferraris are special cars. They are best used for special occasions.

For everything else, this is why God invented Toyota.

    Dale
