I am in the midst of restoring my F355B interrior as good as I can get it. Call it an interrior Major service. The car has 57K total miles and almost 5K race miles. The leather had been leatheriqued about 5 years ago and 'fed' occasionally through the years. But, since I'm sort of retired right now, with time on my hands, I though I'd do the interrior.

So far I have pulled the seats, console, bat-wings, parking brake, and the other leather around the rear window. These have all been thourougly cleaned and are sitting drinking up leatherique rejuvenator. I must have taken a pound of dirt off my drivers seat alone. I'm not talking about the leatherique it, wipe it clean kind of cleaning, I'm talking about using a scrub brush and scrubbing until the original leather die is seen everywhere (it still exists). The drivers seat took 2/3rds a day, the passenger a little over 1/2 a day. The rest of the pieces visible below took another 2/3rds day.

Today, I pulled out the back carpet, throughly vacuumed it and ahampooed several spots where something had stuck. It is currently drying. The rest of the interrior carpets were vacuumed as best I could then shampooed (with all the above out) and are drying. You may notice that I am restoring the 2.5 inch wide alternating nap directions of the original carpeting.

I have also letheriqued all the remaining leather in the car and doors. They will be cleaned tomorrow. And then reassembly begins. Durring this deconstruction, I also removed every little piece of plastic covering the carpet you normally can't see--and should have been taken out when the car was preped for normal road service.

So you are probably wondering what this thread is about. Well, as I'm in this deep, I was looking at the headliner. Although its in great shape physically, it is covered with all sorts of the same kind of blown in dirt the rest of the interrior has just had removed. Is there any harm in vacuuming off the headliner? What about with a vacuum with a beater brush? and tricks of getting into the corners so it all looks pristine?

For your amusement:: In the first image, the interrior leather has all been cleaned. In the next two images, the interrior leather has only been coated with rejuvenator and is yet to be cleaned.

That is actually where this whole escapade started. I had already destickified all the plastic, and you guys ask for pictures. The problem with digital cameras these days, is that they are so good, you can't hide anything. Well, I took pictures of the interrior plastic work, and all I could see was the cruddy looking leather, black sticky stuff over everything, dirty carpets, surrounding what looked to be usefully clean pieces of plastic. I just had to get it all gone. So, after thinking about it for a couple of days, I said to myself--why not. Why not indeed!

So, since the plastic escapade worked out well, I went off the cliff and started to get at the things the digital camera saw, and fit them. It has been an interesting adventure.

For your amusement, another interrior shot that few F355 owners will ever see:

    Well, done.

Ok, I have to whore my redone interior as well... :)

Many of you know that I was looking for a carpet kit for my 348 but couldn't find it. So I had a local recommended upholstery guy do it and clean the leather. Additionally, I replaced the carpet on the door panels with black leather.
Too my surprise, there were after market speakers hidden behind the carpet!!

Notice the now shiny scuff plate by the gas pedal!!
