Wow. That's a total. Every body panel looks twisted. What a pity. Clearly she did a partial spin into a pole. It's amazing she didn't break her legs or hip.

It's amazing, as bad as the left side is, that the windshield isn't cracked or broken.

    Better call MAKCO

Anyone here want to estimate what sort of speed the car may have been travelling at when it hit that pole to do that kind of damage?

10-15 mph, unless it had the US spec side impact beam, then 12-17mph

That looks like an US spec'ed 328 so I think it has the side impact beams which might prevent her from getting more serious injuries.

US cars do have side impact beams which is one of the big reasons they weigh more than Euro spec cars. GTS's also have a very signifcant frame rail below the door for added stiffness. (GTB's have a much smaller frame in that location). I'm thinking the car had to hit that pole at a pretty high speed to bend those members to that degree.

WOW, She is really lucky to walk away from that one. And the value of the 328 goes up as the numbers go down!

I hope the power mirror switch is OK. :(

Scary. As much as we b!tch about the extra weight, side impact beams and the extra reinforcement on the GTS may have saved a life here. That looks like a hideous collision.

How can we track where this car ends up? I'd be interested in a couple of parts.

From the pics it looks like the driver is the guy in the green polo (I feel bad for him) and the passenger is the girl texting her bff...

There are 2 beams in each door, weight is 2 kg each. I removed them, the total weight saving 8 kg is not significant but the doors are already heavy enough without them.

Plus they really do nothing ... only a rollcage would have reduced that impact damage, not a piece of 0.5mm thick pressed steel.

If you want to crash, you don't go for a side impact ...
