fair price on sorted 99 spider

I don't care, but when was the "full service" done, not how many miles ago. I love 355s and have recurring dreams of owning one - not really, but they just seam to be losing value every month with no real floor in site.

Lower mileage cars with all service done, including new valve guides, go for less than what you stated.

 

It sounds like you really like the car, so it may be the right price for you. It looks to be a little high for the mileage. I would offer 55K and be willing to go upto 59K. Also, I agree about the comment about the belts (length of time is more important than mileage). Be patient, make your offer, it may take the seller time to realize what the car is really worth. Sometimes walking away helps the seller into reality. I would have the belts inspected and a PPI is a must if not done yet.

Skipper, I have heard of some decent deals on 355 spiders. If it's the car you want make an offer you're comfortable with.

If I was looking to spend 55K on a car, I would not rule out 70+ asking price cars, as the market is quite different then 2+ years ago. So unless you get to a serious negotiation, you will never trully understand what someone really needs out of the car. How many cars have you made an offer on?

 

Sorry if you are asking what to sell your car for, seriously, you need to know what you will be willing to let it go at and position the price accordingly.

 

it is worth it to pay more for a '99 (yes, I'll admit some bias here). Several things were upgraded / fixed so you won't have to worry about them, biggest being the valve guides. There's some threads around detailing other improvements.

That being said, I'd say 60-63k is fair for a good car like this. There may be better deals out there, but once you start looking they're not always easy to find. Also I'd say 33k miles is perfect for a '99, that means it wasn't sitting and rotting. Keep in mind a 10k mile car only saw an avg. of 1k miles per year...and bearings, seals, etc. prefer to be moving and used.

 

You are perfectly in the ballpark with that figure Skipper----Don't take any less for it unless you have to....

Seems everybody sees a few 355 cars selling for $50K and assume every 355 out there can be bought for that. Big difference's still in mileage, colors, services, etc--All these effect resale.

I was offered $65K for my car a few weeks ago as is and turned the offer down... Don't need the cash and I refuse to firesale one of the nicest 355's in the US... Guys who do there homework and know what costs what if any problems arise will pay good money for a good car...Just have to play the waiting game....

I have seen Skippers car.........it is a very nice well cared for example. It sounds awesome also........

I feel his asking price is very fair.

 

Miles are a little high compared to others, I would say $59K is about right in today's market.

 

I think that depends on how you look at it. If you want a garage queen I agree. If you want a driver with the quirks worked through 33k miles is nothing.

 

ah I didn't get that he was checking on a sell price! For sure that's what I would ask for that car...

Skipper is in the ballpark for the $$$.
