Does anyone know anything about this race?

Are they building a new track? Or holding it at an existing track?

Never been to Korea, but I like going to someplace new every year for a GP. Korea may be good... or not. If it's a bore-track in the middle of nowhere, maybe not worth it... but would be nice to go to Korea.

IIRC it will be a street race like singapore.

Apparently parts of Seoul is mad at night on the motorways, plenty of supercars street racing etc...

    About the circuit
It is to be built in 2007 over two years, named the Korean International Circuit and located in Yeongam-gun near the town of Mokpo, roughly 240 miles south of Seoul, 34°47'29.60"N, 126°23'11.95"E to be precise. While a few graphics here and there offer proposed layouts, it's still uncertain and once again, Herman Tilke is tasked with the design job. Give us overtaking opportunities rather than mathematically-based driving permutations, please. It seems from early reports that the track will contain a harbour stretch of track not too dissimilar from that in Monaco or Montreal - I guess watching the race from a large boat is the idea.

Sourced from a site about the Korean Formula 1 Circuit. Mokpo seems to be a very dense city with an industrial harbor. Based on Google Earth and Panoramio, it does not appear to have the amenities of a Monaco or Montreal.

...what a joke. Korea has some of the most unsightly asthetics of any country I have ever seen. Everyone eats 10lb of Kimchi every day (garlic cabbage) and have breath to prove it! The Koreans are one of the most thin skinned, volatile people I have ever come across. It will quickly become one of the most disliked circuits of the F1 season. I would rather have a race in North Korea....

Yeah, tell us how you really feel! ;)

@topic: Not another street race, please... do we really need another GP in Asia?

Hmmm... well if it's another Valencia, I'm out.

I went to the official site which was entirely in Korean, and the "change language" dropdown only had one choice - Korean.

    Brilliant! :D
