Thanks Rob, but I was pointed already to it in an earlier moment. Over 70,000 people already saw it!

Looks great, Hans! Very nice job on the striping. I still have problems getting a nice, clean line. I usually use Tamiya masking with a toothpick to press the edges down, but I still manage to get small marks all along. Any tips?

Try to keep the paint as thin as possible: give a few thin coats near the masking tape and avoid wet coats in that place.

    The way to go!
Tamiya masking tape is the best!
Patience and thin layers (mistcoat) of paint are the trick, It takes 6/7 very thin sprays to get the color on, but it won't get underneath the tape.

    This is a Masta-kit.
Masta uses the masters of the AMR-titan series to make his own kits.
AMR started this series a few years before he passed away.
There is a daytona comp., a 512BB-LM and a 275gtb that never got finished.
Titans are extremely rare and expensive.

the decals in this kit were terrible! Painted stripes look much better!

    +1 on the Tamiya tape.

Another "trick" I picked up recently is to first spray a light coat of clear over the masking tape - This "seals" it for future color coats. HTH,

    Cheers,
    Ian

Do you guys spray clear coat on your models after applying decals?

I am working on a Tamiya 1/20 F1 kit and I am at the stage of polishing the paint in prep for applying decals.

What are you guys' thoughts on applying clear coat after the decals?

And while I'm at it, do you guys polish the paint using car polish or what?

    Thanks,

    -F

Tom - do you make your own bases?

What is the white material on top of the wood? Is that just 2 or 3 mm plastic sheet?

For that model I used a mahogany base that I made myself. That is sheet white plastic sheet cut to size. I sometimes make my own bases, but mainly use pre made bases with dust covers.

Thanks for the tips on the masking, I'm excited to try that now! I'm working on my Tamiya Morris Mini Cooper, the #177 Monte Carlo Rally car. It's been fun because my wife is starting a Mini touring car from the same era. It's fun to teach her little things here and there, and you guys have helped a lot too.

I also do a clear coat prior to decals and afterwards. I've been using the Tamiya polishes and they work great.
