What I want to know is, how come Wal-Mart hasn't shut that site down? Everyone knows how aggressive Ferrari is when anyone used their name in a product or website. Wal-Mart is such a juggernaut, and this site is far from flattering. I highly doubt they're unaware that it exists.

I thought the same thing, too. Probably because it focuses entirely on WMT's customers (and their rides :)) and not on the company, its practices, etc.

For WMT to get this site shut down is an indirect insult at their customers! :D

Do the people pictured on that site have to give permission for their images to be used?

Is Wal-Mart considered a public place? Or is it up to Wal-Mart to decide that?

But most of the pictures are taken inside the store, which is private property.

    As is the parking lot.

I'd be surprised if someone could use another person's image for a commercial purpose without permission. Especially since this site is obviously making fun of said people.

I think when the building/land is privately owned by a corporation and not privately owned by an individual the rules change. And even then, the law regarding public and private domain and photographs are as far as I know, very relaxed. It's much more likely that these photos are totally legal than they are illegal.

By the way, I truly love the website and I hope it doesn't get shut down. Real life is funnier than fiction.

The Stegosaurus Car I think takes the cake for me.

That's what I tell her I'm going to do while she looks at makeup. Actually, I'm loading up on diet sodas and snacks.

Ditto. I like the car with money painted on the side. The caption is pretty funny!

    I have my doubts.

The site appears to be very new, so I'm sure people will begin to sue in short order. Especially if the site is actually making money.

Two constants at Wal-mart regardless of what time of day or night: somewhere in the store is a screaming kid, and somewhere a morbidly obese person is riding around on one of those electric scooters they provide.

Check it out some time and see if I'm wrong.

Or the people in pictures. There's no way that weak disclaimer will keep the site owner out of court.

Insulting the people your taking pictures of isn't going to help them. All the more reason for Wal-Mart to protect it's brand.

The pictures are funny, but the owners/site operators come across just as pathetic.

I wonder if I should show this to my fiancée or not and suggest it as a 'great idea'... we're getting married in late Spring 2010 and I'm trying to decide if she'd laugh in good humour, cry with despair, or run me through with the nearest pointy object. :D

    All the best,
    Andrew.

do they have WalMarts in Scotland?

anyway, I'd say discretion is the better part of valor and not mention it to your fiancee.

btw, I went to WMT this afternoon for shotgun shells and Mobil 1, no post-worthy folk, just the usual white trash.
