While driving my 360, I realized there's a "Hissing" sound coming from the rear (Mostly on the driver side). It also sounds like something lightly scraping. Sound can be heard the most when I put the car in neutral rolling downhill, the faster the car goes, the frequent the sound can be heard. Rolling the car down hill while TURNED-OFF the engine and the sound is STILL there.

Tire and tire pressure were fine upon inspection. I’ve also jack up the rear and spin the wheel with my hands but didn’t hear any sounds.

Anyone please give me some ideas on this? Brake caliper? Anything would help.

    THANK YOU.

when you step on the brakes does the noise change? do you see any shiny marks or scrapes on the rotor (inside and outside)? could be your low on brakes

excessive brake dust on the wheels could indicate a pad dragging.

after a short drive, carefully see if the rotor on the hissing side is hotter than the other side. this would indicate a sticky caliper or a dragging brake pad

does this mean I have to get my pad(s) replaced?

    Nope. :D:D

When the car is COLD.............ie you have not driven it that day. Take a hose and hose out all the brake dust from that noisey wheel. :):)

Then, take the car for a drive and see if the noise is still there man. Brake dust can cause the noise you speak of. :):)

I have also seen TINY pebbles/stones get in that area and cause the same noise. Usually have to take the caliper off to remove the pebble if that is the case. :):)

But its free to hose out some brake dust. Try it and go from there. If it does get rid of the noise, wait again till the next day when the car/brakes are cool again and hose out the other 3 wheels. ;);)

Give it a go and let us know how you go mate. :):)

wheel bearings can make odd sounds when there are dry. Bearings these days are sealed but can still go bad occasionally.

Also check the handbrake caliper pads. Sometimes the spring comes unclipped and keeps the caliper partially applied, which trashes the pad.

is wheel bearing. I have changed many wheel bearings in my day (sealed units) and they typically start out as a low hiss or scraping sound. If you take the load off the bearing (by jacking the car up) you wont hear anything because you removed the load. Depending on the severity of the problem you might be able to grab the wheel on top and bottom and wiggle it in and out to feel for any play. A tight wheel bearing assembly will have no play whatsoever in it. Sounds are one of the most difficult problems to diagnose but you are describing what I think is a wheel bearing issue. Those suggesting brakes could also be correct but that problem usually can be easily heard if you jack up the car and spin the wheel. Whatever it is I hope you will tell us what you find. Thanks.

    Wheel bearing.

Not an uncommon problem on 355 and 360s.
