Wasn't the very reason that BADoer didn't get the drive, the fact that he crashed during the test session?

yep, good news for FA (with a good car, he can bag another WDC), but bad for constructors pov. Massa's situation is iffy, that kind of injury is terrible, you just never know how it will unfold...

I was in Hungary when the Hamilton/Alonso drama was at its height and Alonso blew the whistle. There were signs at the track "Unfairnando" because he screwed Hami at the pitstop.

What does people didn't realize was, that it was Hami who broke the gentlemen's agreement first by not giving Alonso a clean run in qualifying as it was agreed upon (Hami got the benefit at Silverstone for his home GP).

 

And the appropriate, professional, mature response by the veteran towards his rookie teammate was to hold him up in the pitlane and then blackmail the team?

 

Well, there are already strong indications that Flavio will be back in F1 action after a short forced break. Bernie and Luca have already spoken on his behalf and Max will be soon gone and forgotten. I'm just wondering what kind of dirt Flavio has on those two to get them to reverse their courses instantly...

 

It wasn't "just" that, the whole weekend and before Hami's dad was trying to pour fuel onto the simmering fire in an effort to destabalize the harmony in the team: He wanted to reopen contract negotiations because he felt Hami was underpaid (which he was, but then again who expected that rookie to drive off the doors of his senior team leader). You need to see the whole picture, not a singular incident. All nicely documented in "Business F1" btw.

If people want to hate a culprit, start with Hami's dad.

 

Has FB ever admitted he did anything wrong in this matter or is everyone assuming he did because he resigned?

 

I don't think he did well to persuade perceptions by making the comment about "So what if I did give the order--does that mean he (Piquet) has to do it?" or words to that effect.

 

I thought everyone knew that by now. if not, that probably explains a lot of what's said on here.

 

Simply asking a hypothetical question is not an admission of culpability. What if FB simply said to Piquet..."...if there was only a wreck bad enough to bring out a safety car, Alonso could win this race..." and then Piquet took it on himself to make it happen. Would it be FB responsibility then?

Alonso is no mature veteran. He's a F1 driver!! If he starts thinking that he should forget the offense and just give way to his teammate, he can go home at once. I wouldn't care for a pilot that's not competitive.

You're right. He and Symonds flew before the storm, carrying the information and the evidences. They saved not only Renault but the F1, since, as insiders, they had information that's better kept secret if you want to keep the cash cow on. Don't forget this is just a big company managed by a handful of people and getting richer every year.
