I am looking to re-trim and refurbish two of my favourite Momo steering wheels and it is important to me that they are done as per the original white stitching pattern, has anybody on this forum had experience with this, and can they recommend someone.
    Cheers MG

I suggest contacting Alan Gun. http://www.aglausa.com/p/home.html
Although it is quite a few years (they've been around since mid 80s) since I dealt with him I had very good results. Quality product.

So I clicked the link to see what this place was about. Turns out he's about 2 miles from me and I never knew it.

I had one recovered by a saddler in Lismore. He did a top job of matching leather and stitching. Unfortunately he's gone but there's a chap in Casino who's spoken highly of.
I could get his phone number for you.
There should be a top flight leather guy or two in qld though. I could find out who's doing the qld show harness and carriage leatherwork if you'd like?

One wheel has good foam, and just needs the leather to redone to original, but it is the white inline stitching that seems to cause grief. There is a chap in Melbourne that can do very good work but can only do a crossover stitch, which is not acceptable.

The other wheel is a Cavallino Momo and will need the foam re-done, it was in storage and a rodent to a shine to it! I have two wheels and I know of others in the FCA in Oz that are looking to do have their wheels re-trimmed so it could well be a job lot or reasonable qty.
But it would have to be guaranteed top quality work to withstand 100point concours inspection.

Ummm, did you follow the link? There are pictures on that page showing how he duplicates various stitching styles.
Seriously - he's the best I've ever heard of in this particular niche.

Yes I had a look and it does appear to be what we're looking for, but have you had any work done personally? Or someone you know had work done? They are a long way from here though, but might be worth it.
    Cheers

Bill, If you are going to go by his shop....
I want/need to get my Nardi recovered. But being a racer, I want to have it done in suede like all our race car wheels. Will you inquire as to whether he does that type of work?

    Thanks,
    Rick
