Tough one. Rare is in there, but there must be more as a VW bug cabriolet is also rare.

Reminds me a bit of "what defines a supercar?". :)

I did not mean any offense to you but that's the reality when a new Vantage can be purchased for a little bit over $100k.
It is a gorgeous machine and there are more and more of them on the roads.

No offense taken. I don't consider my car exotic; but then again, I never considered my 599 exotic either. I'm not sure what the term refers to anymore.

How about a 911SC Targa headed west on I-88 this morning. Oh wait, is that the VW bug previously referenced?

Nice to know it gets driven from time to time still.

*sigh* And the sidetracking of the Fall spotting thread begins... :)

I saw a really cool car yesterday around 4:00 in Highland Park. It was a red Renault R5 Turbo 2! Don't see those every day...

I gave it some more thought and came up with these:

    - if it is Japanese it can't be an exotic
    - if it is American, it has only a slim chance being considered an exotic (Ford GT40, GT and Lingerfelter C6 qualify)

That leaves most of the exotics playingfield to the Europeans.

    You're catching on. :)

I don't know, how about a Toyota 2000 GT? Limited production, drop dead beautiful, race history, featured in a Bond film (You Only Live Twice.)

And I disagree with you about the Lingenfelter. I don't think tuner cars should qualify as exotics, unless of course they were exotic (again, I hate that word) to begin with. Just my .02

    (With apologies to Dan...)

An Enzo killer qualifies in my book.

Haha, no need to apologize. It's off topic time now, so I'll contribute...

I agree with you that Japanese cars can be exotics. I also love the 2000 GT, always reminded me of a Jaguar E-Type.

Not to mention, the NSX is DEFINITELY an exotic... and how about the Nissan GTR?

As for American exotics, for me any model of Corvette really shouldn't qualify... including the Lingenfelter. On the other hand, cars like the Saleen S7 and the SSC Ultimate Aero should be.

Oops, my bad. Saleen S7 definitely qualifies. As does the Vector, one of my alltime favs.

Check out this video I made a while back of the Vectors. It's got almost 450,000 views with over 378 comments. The quality is crap, the music is terrible, but the cars are cool! ;)

You could use a tripod and an editor. :)

I actually liked the music. Surprised you don't have any TM and (c) infringements concerns...

    Glad you liked the music...

This was way back in 2006. That was shot with a nice little Kodak Easyshare camera. :-D My videos have gotten a little better since then. ;)

I'm surprised about that Copyright thing too. YouTube is cracking down and has actually demanded I remove audio from two other videos, but not on this one... yet.

You saw my video. That's why I only use copyright free music. It ain't that cool, but it keeps me legally safe. Of course for my own viewing pleasure at home, I use real rock music as well. :)

I'm using Smartsound, which is not "just" music, but actually music that times itself to the piece of video you have. Pretty neat.

~ A black/tan Ferrari F355 berlinetta in the service department of Napleton's Caddilac/Porsche here in Rockford, Illinois. I can only hope it was a Porsche trade in and not there for service... :)

Since I moved from the Gold Coast to Lincoln Park I now see ZERO exotics!! Actually in a way it's kind of refreshing. Up in Genesee Depot, WI I just saw a beautiful white Murci though (again no pic).

Spyker -- drove one for 1 hour once, one of the best cars I've ever driven. Want one for sure.
