So if Schumacher says Hitler was a marvelous chap we should all just nod and agree?

Mika Hakkinen and Jacques Villeneuve have beaten Schumacher too, and I have nothing against them.

Well, I do have something against Villeneuve.

Absolutely a great post! and as for those that think we hate Alonso because he beat Mike.....I guess you need to find someting to justify what weve been saying for years about Alonso. Again...great post. Oh and Martin(Cavalino) back on the fist page of this thread was right on as well.
PS I hope that most of you are not wasting your Saturday nights or Sunday mornings watching this crap.

    The real story in 2010:
Alonso will be quicker than Massa at Ferrari.
Hamilton will be quicker than Kimi at McLaren.
The battle once again will be Alonso vs. Hamilton for the championship.
I think this same duel will play out for the next threee years at least and will be fantastic to watch given the backstory and history between them. Bring it on!

Under that criteria, MS WDCs should be voided for his intentionally hitting DHl and JV

Wouldn't that contradict the exact Statement that Mark is making here? We Ferrarisiti follow every ahem pardon my French, ****** that they hire and just blindly give our support? We cheer for those that win and nobody dare to challenge them?

It is a long stretch to say that Nelson Jn betrayed Flavio. It is the same as calling women that get beaten by their husbands "stupid for staying in the relationship". Flavio is a bully and in the documents leaked from the FIA report it clearly shows his involvement and his bullying. He has used the pee-poor performance of Nelson (that is what you must be after and rightfully so...) to make him do things he wanted him to do. The only person that was actually betrayed was Nelson by his manager and team manager, Flavio Briatore. If you cannot see that and call the kettle wht it is, please...read the damn documents.

That's the only conceivable reason Witness X remained anonymous.

Seemed to me like a charade. Granted Flavio's just come out of the woodwork to express his gratitude and he's anything but stupid. But still...who knows, the whole F1 scene is exactly like WWE. I just have to talk myself out of Montreal and anything that requires more than a totally passive approach to that circus. Embarrassing.

:D Excellent post - very thoughtful. Thank you very much for putting so much effort into that and making a considered contribution.

I reckon you're spot on with your assessment of Alonso - it's the best I've seen it expressed. :)

I feel some pity for Nelson Piquet Jr, but at the same time... he should have known that crashing on purpose wasn't acceptable. I know what it's like working in a pressured environment where the boss controls almost all avenues of appeal and in that situation you need to be stronger than Piquet Jr was - frankly, either way the consequences were going to be the same but he had an option that carried more integrity and dignity. I have sympathy and can relate to the circumstances, but he also showed weakness of character.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

I too will agree with others that this post is absolutely fantastic and the best by far. Thanks for putting it all together. I definitely agree with you about Ashley - a genuine person, she not at all the vampiress that the other one is.

Alonso is a brilliantly fast driver who is always "on" - even when driving a crap wagon. He is also, compared to Kimi, loquacious. He will do well at Ferrari in terms of speed, but what of the team chemistry?
Remember that Alonso was involved in the two biggest scandals of the last 20 or so years ... Spygate and Crashgate. He benefitted from both scandals. Also remember that as a two-time defending world champion he didn't have the mental strength to deal w/ Lewis Hamilton, who was a rookie at the time. What is he going to do on those occasions when Massa kicks his butt? How will he react to the team's affection and loyalty for Massa?
    Stay tuned!

Not liking Alonso is rather a strong term for me. I think his antics at McLaren showed lack of class. Hamilton beat him fair and square and Alonso threw his toys out the pram. Nothing to do with him beating Schumacher - it was refreshing to see someone challenging Schumacher. I was a fan of Hakkinen when he was racing with Schumacher so NO the reason for not being Alonso's fan is purely because he is a sore loser.

I have a feeling that Alonso will do very well in the coming years.

With time all the naysayers will accept him just like they accepted Schumi.

My avatar is actually a picture of my current racing helmet, which has a Snell rating (necessary in the US) that will be valid for years to come.

So in a nutshell no. At least not until I need a new helmet.

That said I'll have to work my Maranello contacts for an Alonso signature on a visor. If I get that buying the helmet to go with it, will not be far behind...

Yes, that is something I've wondered, too. Both drivers seem to work with car development pretty well, but both can't win every race. I hope they can work on harmony, but competitiveness being what it is, there may come a day when one will have to be supportive of the other.
Let's just hope that we have a more competitive red car this next year and that both are 1 and 2 in the points !!

"My relationship" with MS is equally complex. I admire him for his achievements and his talent and am a proud owner of his signature on a F1 helmet. I even like the private MS as far as I can tell from interviews. It is the arrogant bastard persona who parks in Rascasse and then sees nothing wrong with it whom I can't stand.

I read somewhere that somebody described his personality transformation once he steps into the race car. We have seen him deliberately drive into Villeneuve and squeeze his brother as well as his own team mate against the concrete wall. That's where I'm left shaking my head in disbelief. Particularly because the man has so much ueber talent that he doesn't need to pull that kind of crap.

Everyone does things on the track that they are not proud of. Thats just the way it is when you make descisions in a split second. Lets just say that Mike and Alonso are even on that one. Now show me where and when Mike insulted his own fan club, where Mike slammed his own team with stupid accusations, where Mike turned on his own team to save his hyde, where Mike used stolen data to help him on the track. There is probably more but I think that this is more than enough. Only an Alonso family member or some complete fanatics would back such a dispicable man. For you to continually compare Michael Schumacher to this Alonso idiot is laughable and only shows your grasping for straws with greasy hands. Next season will only show us more of this clowns open mouth, insert foot stupidity.....Watch and see.

i cant wait for next season to start. so those who said they would no longer support Ferrari, if they ever signed FA, can all go stand in a corner and light themselves on fire. but, something tells me they'll still be here whenever it's convenient to trash FA...

well it's easy to keep the garbage on the track, when your car was by far the fastest for years on end, and the team revolved around you 100% without question. for many years, it was team Shumacher, not team Ferrari, don't kid yourself.
