  1. Replace manifolds

  2. Valve guides

  3. Replace Rings and or any sleeves

  4. Replace manifolds, valve guides, rings and or any sleeves

Just thought that this would be of interest to us 355 owners. The more that take part in this survey, the more it may help us understand this amazing machine....the 355. If this could be made a "sticky" it would be even better. Once we have a large sampling then I may post another survey for those answering in some of the above catagories. The follow up survey questions will be picked hopefully with the help of Dave Helms and Brian Crawl. For those that reply to any of the first 5 boxes above(you did one of the repairs in the poll) please go to the follow up poll and let us know what your millage was when the work was done.

is there any way to add mileage and model year to the survey? Might to be interesting to see if there's a trend there...

    Just manifolds for me.

I think it would be important for those who replaced items as preventative maintenance to make special note of that, as that is quite different to having the item fail.

Is this poll for cars that had items replaced because of issues or just because? I replaced my headers, but not because of issues, just because I wanted the Fabspeed ones.. Depends I guess if your looking for cars with issues and had to have these items replaced?

    Didn't read above---James already asked this--my fault....

Just had a huge major done: Replaced valve guides, rings and all sleeves. Manifolds repaired at 40000 for the second time.

My car is a January 1995 GTS from germany, it has done approx 44000 miles.

There are some that are filling in the problems they had done but not the poll on the millage. Please do both polls. Thanks

Would those that have posted their problems here (39 of you so far) please post the millage on your cars when the repairs took place. So far only 14 of the 39 have done so. The data collected here will be easier to interpret if all of you do both polls. Thanks again.

Replaced both manifolds around 28K miles

Replaced cat convertors with hyperflows around 32K miles

So far running great--no check engine light in two years, original valves

Don't think we will have a large enough sample size to draw any real conclusions, but would be interesting to have breakdown of results be model year, as well as mileage. Agree would be useful to add cats to the choices, but don't think we'll see any bombshells with that.

If a Moderator made the two threads a sticky for 6 months, I believe the sampling would be up in the hundreds.

    Hmmmmmm....

Sounds like the manifold issue is spot on but could the valve guide thing be blown out of proportion? Less than 5.7% of the responses have actually had to do it. Too early to tell but very interesting none the less.

Why can't you guys just face the facts that the 355 has major issues?? Why the need for all these surveys?? Just look at the numbers of failures to cars built, and you will have your answer, plain and simple. The car is wonderful, but has major issues at the same time. Get over it already

Yes they do..but the 355 seems to have to most out of all. Manifolds, valve guides, roofs that won't go down and the list goes on...355= money. Not ready to spend the bucks...buy an S2000. Same performance, less cost.

Thanks guys for not calling me out on this. I guess I need to read things a little better next time :) I guess 30% of the cars with valve guide issues is significant. My car goes in this winter for it's belt service at 34K miles so it will be interesting to see what all it will need.
