Hey guys...just got my 360 back from service after having it left there for quite a while. I picked it up at night so it was dark and didnt notice that there was something different about my "sport" switch until i reached down to activate sport mode on the way home.

The sport mode wouldnt engage - light came on momentarily and then off as soon as my finger was off the button. Also noticed the switch did not stay down when pressed, rather sprung back up. It also triggered the "check suspension" warning on the dash. I then stopped off at a well lit area and found that the sport switch had been changed (refer photo). It is clearly not my original swtich as the size, fitment, colour and finish was all different - not to mention it no longer functioned properly! Im not 100% sure but looks similar to a switch off a 550 Maranello. Can anyone confirm?

I'm sorry to see that! I don't know the answer to your question. Was this done at a Ferrari dealer? What kind of service was your car in for?

I had it in for just an installation of test pipes and a cleanout of the headlights....nothing which would have involved touching the sport switch!

It was not at a ferrari dealer, however the place is a popular and reputable independent ferrari specialist.

Boy! Hong Kong is just NOT a good place to own a F-car, based on the information about service available there from threads on this site!

Thanks for the interesting tip....but hopefully i wont need to go down that route. I went straight back there today to ask the owner about this and he seemed puzzled but didnt deny that one of his staff MAY have done the "switch" to test another car's faulty switch....then possibly inadvertently left the faulty switch in my car.

To his credit he told me he would source a new switch (which i found out is not cheap for a small switch)...so this time i shall give them the benefit of the doubt and keep them unnamed to protect their reputation considering good past service and reasonable pricing.

Hopefully next week he will come up with the goods and my "sport" mode will once again be alive and kicking again. Oh, incidentally...not until you lose the ability to select sport mode do you learn to enjoy the subtle yet important changes it makes to the car during spirited driving!

In my opinion this independent dealer is a scum bag!! It's one thing to call and ask your permission to use a part from your car as a test for a fellow F car owner, but, to do this without your permission and then leave the defective switch in your car is disgusting! Now he acts like he's doing the right thing by offering to place a new switch in your car. Does he not think your time is worth anything, much less the extra stress it places on your dash board by constantly removing and replacing parts. I think your being way too much of a gentlemen here. I understand good shops are hard to find in HK, but you owe it to others to name this "dealer" for what he really is; a scum bag! I'm a Texan, and normally very polite, but this really bothers me.

I owned a shop for over 10 years and I ran an honest and respectable business. Things like this happen and this is a more likely scenario: The tech working on your car accidentally broke your switch. Maybe he was test driving your car and went to actuate it and it broke. Quite possibly it was a complete accident and without any abuse or malice intended. S**T HAPPENS I can tell you from vast experience and having to purchase sometimes expensive part that techs accidentally break or more likely they use something that is old and it breaks through no fault of their own due to age or constant use.

I required my techs to immediately inform me of any scenario like that. I would immediately inform the customer of what happened and fix the problem as promptly as humanly possible at absolutely no cost to the customer. It is the only way to conduct business in my opinion.

Why do I think this is what happened? Where is YOUR switch? Is it in the 550? Why cant he just get your switch back and reinstall it? My guess is because it is broken so this is not an option for him. Either way something dishonest is going on here and maybe you will eventually get to the bottom if it. Good luck and keep us posted please.
