JB and RB are both mediocre drivers, it's the car that entirely won it this year. I hope (and it seems that) Ross Brawn sees it. Think about how many more wins a Lewis, Alonso or Kimi would've gotten had they been driving for this team this season. It'd be a huge waste if they resigned JB imo with the driver market being so open for 2010. Kubica and Rosberg would be a great pair.

He is by far the worst champion I have seen in a long time. I am sure other drivers don't even respect his skills like that. I don't think he has passed 5 cars all season on the track.

He isn't even a top 7 driver but he has had a lucky run so good for him.

I agree with your assessment and from what I've read, I think Ross is seeing it that way too.

Here's what he has to do:
Button will win the title in Brazil if…

    - He finishes third or higher
    - He finishes fourth or fifth and Barrichello finishes lower than first
    - He finishes sixth or seventh and Barrichello finishes lower than second and Vettel finishes lower than first
    - He finishes eighth and Barrichello finishes lower than third and Vettel
    finishes lower than second
    - Vettel fails to finish second or higher and Barrichello fails to finish fourth or higher

Regarding your paring - I think Kubica will go to Renault and be the team leader there (that's obvious with Grosjean remaining there). Rosberg will go to Brawn; Rubens already has something in the works with Williams; McLaren saying they may keep Heikki and are in no hurry; Kimi said he'll stay only with a championship team so I see him at Brawn so Brawn then has the German driver (and a good one who thus far has been unable to show his true potential) and a former world champion. Best of all worlds. Brawn/Kimi/Rosberg - 2010 CC and DC

I think I'd rather have Vettel (if he is available) than Rosberg. Would be a good move for Kimi. Brawn is a proven winner.

Would rather see Rubens win than Button as Rubens is an ex Ferrari driver. ;)

F1 is not ski jumping, there are no points for style.

    That IS obvious.

It'll be an interesting race in Brazil. :)

Where does this leave Button? It'd be odd if the reigning World Champion didn't have a drive for 2010. Or do you think it'll be a case of either Button or Raikkonen out of F1 for good from 2010?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Similar to Damon Hill and Jacques Villenueve after their championship wins, I suspect.

Welcome to ze club can't work out where or what that avatar is from tho.:)

I don't think Button is going anywhere, next year, but there again Merc will have a say in it now.

also Kimi is getting paid from Ferrari (santander) so who knows.

    Ah ok.

Speaking of Jacques Villenueve, did you see him saying that he'd be keen to get back into an F1 car next season?

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Funny. After the first 6 races, they were the second coming. Now that they are mid pack, they should be tossed aside?

I don't believe anyone has mentioned that the Brawn chassis stopped being developed after the first half of the season. They were far enough ahead, they decided to focus on 2010. They are still basically a small team, and any jump they could get on the field would pay off in spades next year. They haven't gotten slower, the rest of the field has gotten faster.

I just hate how any of the top 20 drivers in the world can be called mediocre. Jensen or Rubens may not be the fastest, best developers, or most media worthy drivers, but they aren't slouches my any means. They stuck with Brawn a year ago. while there may not have been many options, I think not rewarding them for being the drivers the team built a championship around is a mistake.

How far off the pole were they in Japan? Less than 1 second?

    Thank you very much. :D

The avatar is 'Beaker The Muppet' from The Muppet Show. They really make me laugh and I'm a scientist but, as I've not yet been awarded my doctorate (soon though!), I felt it would be almost presumptuous to use Dr. Bunsen Honeydew. Plus, my Dad thinks my hair sticks up like Beaker's and I once accidentally electrocuted myself whilst simultaneously setting fire to my SmartCar during some maintenance (see here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138362142#post138362142) so I get teased mercilessly by friends and family for being 'accident prone'... though it was just that one time it went that badly wrong.

not unworthy...I just expected more from him during the second part of the season. His teammate has beaten him 7 out of the last 8 races, in both quali and the race.

It does look like Kubica is going to Renault next year, but I can't understand why. Their performance has been mid-pack at best (less, since Alonso has probably propped up the performance a bit). And next year's car can't be much better with the aero rules staying the same and importantly with Pat Symonds' absence. If Kubica went for it, I think he'd have a great shot at a Brawn or McLaren seat depending on where Kimi goes.

I think it goes to prove that his driving skills aren't nearly as good as people claimed him to be. Either way he won the races so he's "worthy" of the title. He could be driving more cautious to try to make sure he makes it home at the end of the race. Some points are better than no points.

I can't recall many seasons where the WDC didn't drive the best car. Ferrari may have won the WCC last year, but HK scored just just over half of the points LH did in a car capable of winning the driver's championship. All that proves is HK didn't drive well ehough, not that the Ferrari better. In fact I would go so far as to say, the WDC's car defines the best car on the grid better than the WCC, if they are different, almost by definition. 2007 was an exception though, LH would have won if he didn't make so many mistakes towards the end of the season. 1999 was another exception, obviously the Ferrari was better that year, since Irvine led the challenge and kept it close, we would all likely agree it wouldn't have been close if MS didn't break his leg.

What really matters, is the performance delta between 1st & 2nd. With a 2002/2004 Ferrari Badoer could have won the championship...okay, maybe not.

Worthy yes, inspiring and world class....not really. Rubens is a better pressure driver. Jens is smooth but I think RB does better in a car that doesnt work as well.

They built a lead early on and its been just enough to keep RBull at bay. Lack of reliability on RBull car made this easier for Brawn.

Jense is now saying he wont blow it like LH did in the last 2 races. If you are confident of that you dont need to put it out publicly. I think Brawn actually fear a melt down very much.
