Confirmed by multiple sources, this 599 hit 177mph over the weekend.

The good news? It was all in good fun. The Police Chief and Woody 'took it to the tarmac' to see how a tricked-out police cruiser would hang with a 599. Guess what? It was a total drubbing. The cruiser, even with all the police upfits, didn't, for one instance, have an iota of advantage. Running from the law has never looked (and sounded) better.

Of course the police radio was faster than the 599, but that's a different story.

HAHA!! Didn't notice that about his hand. I was standing back during the photo, and the Chief was actually patting down Woody on his right pocket.

Actually, I don't think any of us had video during the weekend. I saw all of it... and I'll tell you, Woody gave me about a 1000 foot headstart in my 348 and he still BLEW the doors off my car. Being passed by a 599 at 150+ is awesome... the wind noise (from my open top car) was deafening.

As we had lunch in the pilot's conference room, I asked Woody what it was like in the car at that speed. He said, 'you know, with the cold air conditioning on, it was pretty darn comfortable'. I just about fell on the floor laughing. You see, an open top 348 at only 125mph is like being in the middle of a F5 tornado, ripping through Radio Shack.

I'm sure when we head to the mountains in a few weeks it'll be much slower-paced. :)

I don't know guys... this cop seems to be enjoying this bust a little too much.

I always KNEW cops loved busting Ferrari owners. I just didn't realize it was THAT much!

The first thing I did when I got back to the B&B was take a shower to get all the grit off. Following Daniel at 130mph then being passed by Woody like we were not even moving and me with the top down, I was covered in bits of rubber from airplane tires, assorted debris and I think I even washed the wheel center cap out of my hair that Woody's 599 threw during one of our runs. What a blast!

My best speed was 140mph according to the speedo in the 355, and accurate or not I am sticking with it. I would have probably gotten more if the top and windows had been up or if I had jettisoned my wife :)

Now I finally know what to tell everyone who asks "How fast have you had it up to?" I can tell them 140mph until I ran out of runway.

The Police Package Charger is not any faster than a R/T 5.7 Hemi car. They do have beefier suspension, brakes, alternator and engine/trans coolers.

I did help a friend build a Police Charger with a Vortech supercharger and a lowered suspension. That car WAS significantly faster than a stock Charger but still would have been no match for a 599 or a 430. The 348 may have had some trouble.

My understanding is that cop cars always just end up being a lot heavier.
