Are the valve guide problems due to the cats?

Does the fitment of a Capristo ( or similar system ) help alleviate the problem

Would like to purchase a 355! I had one for a few weeks and cannot believe what an incredible car it is!

Can anything be done to minimise this problem

    Thx

    1. No.
    2. No, but it makes it all worth it.
    3. Exactly!
    4. No.

Find the best car you can afford, get a PPI with leakdown and compression, and plan that when you do a major you may have to add a few grand on top to do the guides.

You should be aware of the issues, but they shouldn't scare you away.

Don't use oil any thicker than 10W-40*
Wait until the oil is above 140dF before running the snot out of the engine.
Wait until the oil is above 110dF before venturing above 4000 RPMs.

(*) unless you have a temperature reading above 285dF on the oil temp gauge.
