I ran into Chuck Wray and Kendal Merritt at St Michaels and they will have a very strong presence at the Rockville show. They are bringing out around 10 cars including the black on black Muira, the beautiful Iso Grifo, at least one Bizzarini, some very rare early 60's SuperAmericas and such. This should be a very nice show. I wish I could make. Keep in mind that it is the same day as the UPS show (think hot rods and with warm weather, T&A) regards ken
I saw this car back in the old shop in Laurel. It was yellow and not very well done. They took every single nut and bolt off of this car and rebuilt it with painstaking precision. It is just simply ridiculous how beautiful it is. The second photo is where the car started from. The third shot is kinda cool because you can see its various components scattered amongst the shelves. Chuck and his crew did just an insane job of putting this car back together. The craftsmanship is unparalleled. regards ken Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Ferrari Club usually has a showing but it is a classic car show so you won't see any Gallardos on the field. There is a bunch of club participation like the Thunderbird, Mustang, Packard and Caddy guys. Charles Gillet is bringing his 6 or 7 grand classics to the show. Last year Competizione was there and won a class award with a very special yellow Alfa. regards ken Oh yeah, that cheezy blue Ferrari will be there. ; ) If only that car had some pedigree.
Ferrari's 15 years and older are eligible. Newer Ferraris can park on field if pre-registered and participate in FCA lunch ($5).
"All Italian cars" are honored this year and there will be a special set-up for the the best-of-the-best as selected by the Rockville Car Show organizers. I've seen a list and it's impressive. And then there's the other 400+ vintage cars of all makes which trace the history of the automobile in the U.S. and abroad. Very cool gathering at a lovely site. Pray for good weather. Bill
Any further details on the Miura? Full off restoration completed and the yellow car is now black? Fantastic looking! Almost enough (alone) to "make" me go to Rockville. Anyone notice what looks to be a tank model on one of the shelves behind the car? I didn't see it at first... blinded by the Miura! : )
That would be these put in action. As far as the Muira goes, it was a multi-year restoration. I had the honor of seeing that bad boy in so many states of undress. The finished piece is probably one of the finest examples in the world. I wish I could share the finished photos... as well as the other treasures housed at Dew Motors. They have some extremely rare cars floating about. It will be a real treat to see what gets out of the garage and into the light of day at Rockville. regards Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is that the Muira that started out at A.C. Restorations? I thought it looked pretty good by the time it was yellow considering what it looked like before that.
Good grief Charlie Brown, embarassing! : ) Perhaps not surprisingly, it doesn't look anything like a model tank anymore... jeez...
I'll be there with my 1993 Mondial t Cabriolet in the Cars For Sale area. It's field eligable by year, but selling cars on field in a no-no. Really need to move this to new owner. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=137271454#post137271454 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
