I am looking at replacing some of the sensors to try to address a cold start issue on my 88 TR (I know, been at it forever). From what I can see, there are 4 sensors on the coolant manifold for water delivery to the thermostat (manifold is part 121471). One is the Thermo time switch (part 113980 sit on top of the manifold), one is the thermistor (part 104628) which sits on the back between the intakes...what are the other two? Can't find them on the part catalogs! Anyone have part numbers? THX FRG
ordered today a water temp sensor, and relays.... the part number i have is 121720,for the sensor but i only have 3 sensors, mines a uk 1989 non cat model
Because they are associated with the KE-Jetronic injection, they are shown on the SPC pages with the KE-Jet fuel distributors and fuel lines (rather than on the pages related to the cooling system). One thing to be careful about is that there are 2 different Thermo-Time Switches -- one for K-Jet and one for KE-Jet (the TTS PN you have listed is only for the K-Jet TR). Here's a jpeg with some labels to help identify who's who: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Does anyone have a cross reference to Bosch numbers? So far I have found F# 118790 is Bosch# 0280130219 ($44 vs $529.29 from dealer) and 121720 is Bosch# 0280130032 ($31 vs $163.57), still looking for 189964.... THX FRG
Not sure if 189964 is specifically Bosch brand or not (and I'd suggest that you check with www.allferrariparts.com if you have to buy it using the F PN -- AFP has better prices than those you are quoting for those other KE-Jet components and probably will for 189964 too). The TTS and the 2-channel thermistor are such specialized gizmos that they are only used on Bosch systems; whereas, coolant thermal switches are something that didn't have to be invented for CIS. I can confirm those Bosch PNs you have for the other components so I've added them to the jpeg. If you can find an alternative for 189964, please post brand & PN, and I'll add that to the jpeg too: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi, Has anybody found a generic (or OEM) part number for this Ferrari part 189964 and who sells it besides the obvious (F-dealer, Ricambi America, AllFerrariParts, TRutlands, etc.)?
I just went thru this, and the short answer is "no" (so I paid a ridiculous near-$200 price for what should be a $10~$15 part). If you want to keep trying, it's a Fielect KSD301 thermoswitch (NC that opens at 65 deg C), but I could only find this in an M6x1 thread size on Amazon -- whereas, we need an M8x1.25 thread size (and the minimum Fielect direct order is 1000 pieces minimum). Here's the failed 125878 that I removed from my TR (marked 63/36): Image Unavailable, Please Login And this is the new 189964 that I just installed (No temp marking on it, but I noticed that it opens at a slightly higher water gauge temp than my old 125878 -- so that's why I'm calling it "opens at 65 deg C", and Fielect stuff seems to come spec'd in 5 deg C increments -- 50, 55, 60, 65, etc.. It is marked "KSD301"): Image Unavailable, Please Login
It sure seems like overkill to have 4 different temperature sensors / switches on the gooseneck, when it seems like maybe 2 would be enough...just my useless opinion...
