How do you like your coffee and shift knob?

  1. Black

  2. with Cream

  3. "Shamile" should talk smack on me for not going OEM ;)

So, I found this nifty shift knob online. The cream color matches my cream interior. It's made from the same indestructable material as billiard balls, and has the same size as the original. I made sure to specify the diameter and thread pitch (10mm x 1.25mm) for proper fitting.

Please note the included FREE leather pouch in the pics below!

Instead of the original black or the more commonly seen polished chrome or brushed aluminum, ( or even the rarer 'skull' ) swap outs; what do y'all think? ;)

Thinking about coating it in Tritium so I can see it for night-time driving.

Looking at the two photos and comapring, the cream definitely stands out.

Cream looks great. Just like the knobs on my 60s Corvettes with Hurst shifters.

Congrats for resisting the "skull" option!

I'm certainly not purist enough to object to a nice aesthetic swap that can be changed back. May you and your knob enjoy many happy shifts together.

    Looks good.

    I like it.

I have the polished shifter knob in my car and in the summer time that thing is HOT!!! I think that one of these may be a bit cooler at least, not to mention that it would match my interior.

I do prefer the black, but the creme does not look bad.

Definitely a positive departure if you decide to go with it.

Knowing that you dash is navy - not black - I could go with either option. Classic black or matching cream.

It is your knob - grab it the way it feels best ;)

    Black.

The cream color works best on 1950s Mercs and Porsches, IMHO. It's a tad vintage.

The creme colored knob is neat...it's retro, like you'd see in early '50s cars of many makes.

I got a very nice billet aluminum knob with shift pattern on ebay for about $50.

Much better feel than the OEM plastic 308 knob.

i'm sending it back as soon as I get the 'return authorization #' :)

Yes, and if it does get too hot, that's where the FREE leather pouch comes in: just slip it over!

What up, Curtis? Hey, one of these would look great in your beautiful white TR!!

The car is pushing 'vintage' (chronologically speaking) status every day. LOL

The original one has developed surface cracks so I thought I take it off and save it, whilst having a little fun with replacements. :)

I was surprised that it was mere plastic when I took it off. Thanks for the lead.

    Dear Ferraristi,

Hardee har har.....very funny jungathart. Thanks for the pmail link. :)

Well, I have the polished knob in my 91 Testarossa and a polished knob in my Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster. The TR's knob is from Hill engineering and the VT's knob is MOMO.

I'm not a big OEM guy....just high quality and no compromises.

....you TR guys know who you are. :D

...but I voted for me anyway. :)

I don't mind the cream color -- but to get the full marks, you need to engrave the shift pattern and fill with dark blue ink ;)

    I like both, so I didn't vote.

It would look great as well in polished stainless.

I agree. I was going to say if it had a black stripe on it, it would look nice, it looks like too much cream, but it's different, and it looks good. I like both of them. What do you like?

My 328's shift knob was showing the surface cracks others have identified. I bought an OEM replacement (black with red numerals) .. and GULP ... $250 later I get one. Holy crap .. the concours judges will be happy but that is a lot of money for a simple 43 mm dia. ball with some engraving and filling (a bit sloppy at that).

Really, I fully intended to go OEM, but the F-pimp was too busy selling you parts, so I couldn't wait had to go with back-alley merchandise!:)

How about using one of those previously referred to 'rub-on tattoo' alternatives??

I think cream livens the interior up a bit.

250? I sure am glad the 'ol girl has no concours qualities; she knows she's naughty and doesn't even want to try to show to any judges that she's good.;)

    Dear Ferraristi,

That would add weight for nothing. The same look can be had in polished aluminum, or the Hill Engineering Titanium.

I really like the polished knob with the number engravings myself. It matches the polished shift lever and the satin polished shift gate. A nice touch of "mechanical feel" in the cabin swathed in leather.

jungathart, if your TR is really "naughty"....just have her pull up her skirt when the concours judges come by.....that should get you some points. :D

NO. Her dirty and drippy engine is simply too repulsive.

I forget the seller's ebay name but he works of Addison, TX, part of the Dallas metro area. Has them up for sale pretty often.

The knob was $39.95, with tax + S&H around $50.

The OEM knob on my 330 2+2 was also black plastic, high quality '60s vintage. I bought a solid billet knob for it, as well.
