Beautiful project.
Yellowbird RS... Sunroofs were available on the original RS and several were equipped as such........it would have been expensive to replace the headliner, weld in a panel, and then repair and paint the roof. So we kept it. The seats are lightweight reproductions from the earlier 911 ST race car.......they're much more laterally supportive than the RS seat. ferraripete..... Thanks !!! Ryalex.... Thanks !!! I will get around to advertising it as a completed package eventually. It's currently in the dyno shop getting more tuning done.

Here is mine. It started life as a 1973 911T. It has a 2.7L "S" engine with a 5-speed 915. It has PMO carbs. The Gemini Blue is original to the car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
An update for you all.........after more tuning over the last 3 months at a labor cost of some $7K, including lots of dyno time, we have 348 HP at the rear wheels at 3,300' AGL......25% humidity and 20 degrees celcius temps. Yeah baby !!!!! Were is Dr. Strangelove's NECROMANCER card when you need it !!!!
+1 my Targa came in yesterday.... will discuss / post pics in my thread later. i am in a 911 mood it seems !
Sorry, no new pics, car looks the same though........... There were some minor oil leak and tranny shifting issues that had to get sorted out 6 months ago, but since that that was done, he's been driving it pretty much every day until now, except for the trips to the dyno shop for software remapping and EFI adjustments. When he goes thru his downtown parkade it sets off a bunch of car alarms because of the sonic vibrations from the exhaust. It's getting put away for the winter sometime this week. He just bought a new white 997 GT3 and the two cars will be parked side by side in his garage until March. Michael........good to hear your car arrived !!!
Sunroofs were an option on the Touring RS's - like the colour combination is great as you mostly don't see White and Green RS's - and the real beauty is this can be driven anywhere anytime. Although I do get mine out original out and about - this recreation would be an excellent daily driver ... Thanks for sharing .... Here's a picture of David Gilhooley enjoying his original white / green RS, sadly David passed away recently but he enjoyed his longterm ownership. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Awesome work! Did you guys use a 915 for all that power? How about clutch? I would desire to do a 3.0 RSR replica over here but costs is simply prohibiting!
nickd..... Funny, that is what the client said too. Everyone does the red and blue version..........he wanted the green just to be different. I'd have done a red one as that is what I personally like......but I am very impressed by how the green turned out. It's quite low key. Got any pics of your car you can post ? SFchallenge..... Yep.....a 915. Totally redone with the best heavy internal duty bits, a Quaife diff, complete WEVO shift assembly, and a custom Kennedy organic clutch and their pressure plate rated for 400+ ft pounds.
One question: Why did you not weld up the sunroof? The car is so beautiful except the sunroof stands out as a calling card that the car is not a real RS and has no place on a car like this?????
DM18....... Sunroofs were available on the touring model of the RS from the factory. The customer wanted it as well, since there is no aircon......and it would have added more cost to his project to weld it in and do the bodywork, that he felt could have been better spent elsewhere. We're only talking about $750 or so, but still......that was half the price of the Carrillo rod upgrade right there. Obviously by removing it, and all the associated bits, he would have saved another 35 or so pounds of weight........
I don't have a white and green RS but a black and red as seen in the pic link http://www.flickr.com/photos/delawarepca/4043558495/in/pool-early911
