Rockville Antique & Classic Car Show Oct 17

Weather is looking pretty "iffy". Cold an cloudy at best.

 

Still doesn't look great, but hey, let's wait and see what happens...it is a great show. If they need to push it back a week we will still be there!

WeatherBug says chance of rain Saturday near 100%. Not looking good.

 

According to their inclement weather number they are still on. They say to call by 7 am on Saturday to see if a decision has been made. I don't have a real strong desire to drive my car through mud though so I may bag it even if they do go on with it.

 

I'm attending - not sure if I'm bringing the Ferrari. The club has the rec hall reserved for food/snacks so at least I can socialize. The # is 240-314-5022 to check & see if the show is on. Be brave & bring the umbrella!

Just went through the car with a Q tip last Sunday. Don't plan on covering it with mud. I'm out! See you all at the holiday party.

 

THE SHOW HAS BEEN POSTPONED until Saturday, October 24th due to the weather.

The large field is all grass, and bowl shaped. Cars park on a hill and "aim" at the next row of cars below. Wheel chocks, provided by the show, are required (as are fire extinguishers).

Last year saw nearly 600 vehicles.

 

A wise decision. That field is probably a swamp, and is a fairly steep hill.

 

Just got word from Jim Lanham that the UPS show has been postponed as well. It too will happen on the 24th.

Subject: Rockville Show Rescheduled

Mother Nature vented her fury on us this past Saturday, causing the Rockville Antique and Classic Car Show to be Rescheduled for this Saturday, October 24.
Check your latest FCA News Bulletin for the details: Other than the date, all else remains unchanged. If you want to enter your car and are not pre-registered, you may sign up at the show.

Our club’s social begins around noon in the Social Hall right on the grounds of the car show. There will be plenty of good snacks and sweets, plus hot and cold drinks. If you crave for more, bring your own picnic or buy food from on-site vendors and feast with us in warm comfort. There is no schedule, so feel free to drop in and out at your leisure as you take in the sights of the show.

If the weather holds...sheesh, we can't seem to get a forecast for sunny weather on a SAT can we?

WeatherBug has 70% chance of rain Friday night and all day Saturday. Looks like swamp time again.

 

So what happens if it does rain again this Saturday (as they are predicting). Do you think they will just cancel the show? Hold it off for another week? Or will it go on Rain or Shine this time?

I just got word from the organizer, Jim Lanham, that the UPS show has been canceled until next year. Bummer. He could have moved the show to Sunday but the logistics were probably too extensive.

No word yet on Rockville's website. I guess I'll just have to keep checking their webpage.

I just called the number on the website.... The show for tomorrow is cancelled. The recording said they will mail out the show packets to the participants in the next few weeks. Bummer... but I really didn't want to go mud bogging in my Ferrari anyway. Maybe we can represent at the donut on sunday if the weather is decent.

 

The Donut sounds like a plan...I just checked the weather and it's supposed to be clear, dry and sunny on Sunday, so who else is in?
