Hello Arno, Thanks for the kind words. My P3 is not a transkit. Its a full curbside with photo-etch and decals. I saw the Joker on ebay. I don't want to give my opinion of the 2 kits as it will come across biased. The 330LMB looks like the one cast by Umi. The Joker version was out first I think but that has the right wheelbase to do the #26 Piper car which was a rebodied 250GTO but it will not be correct for the 330LMB. So if the Umi kit is a copy of the Joker which I think it is then it will make the Piper car. Scale Kraft did a nice body for the 330LMB and its bigger than the Joker kit and has the correct wheelbase for the 330LMB's. I am hoping MFH finishes there 330LMB. Ed
No problem Thank you Ed. Absolute great information that I really did not now. So will see what the rest is going to say (or not ) but I can note now that the body is most likely of Umi build. Can not wait to see what the MFH would look like. Oh and put me down for the 250 Bertone too Is this a now kit too by the way from Hasegawa ! Looks more like a Fujimi box with Arno. I've seen a couple of Esci (I think that's the name) kits recently in 1/24. Does anyone know what they are like? I've never heard of them before. Thanks Rob
+ 1 absolute waste of time. I built one some years ago and when it was 90 % done I realised it will never look like a SWB Berlinetta. The proportions of the body are totally wrong. (Sorry, I had to vent my anger on this kit)
Another F1 kit, showing a Project P34 in 1/20th scale and by Fujimi. This is a different version than Tamiya did. Someone said this might be a 1/18th model kit, so it could turn out to be real strange! Well its out. The new Hobby Design 599XX racecar transkit for Fujimi(or if you want a motor, Revell) in 1/24th scale. Looks like a real nice transkit with all the parts needed. I knew it would not take long! Not cheap at around $130.00 not including the Fujimi kit, but the quality looks very good. Yes they say 20"....and while the 599 and 430 have the same spoke pattern neither one runs with 20" in real life. The 430 has 18" and the 599xx has 19". I wonder what HD's wheels really scale out to.
NEW: Hasegawa Lotus 79 1978 1/20th kit due out in a few months. Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo -Strictly 43rd revival model/photo contest-Chicago April 2010
New Hiro 1/24th Ferrari 250LM Lemans 1968 Piper/Attwood full detail. I already did this model around 5 years ago as a curbside 1/24th Scale Designs resin kit. This was a privately modified car by Piper's race team. Next should be the Porsche 917 in 1/24th. Still waiting for the promised 330LMB and 250 TDF that was announced over 2 years ago. They also have listed in 1/20th: Ferrari 312B3 1974 March 711 1971 March 721 1972 Eifelland 21 1972 Lotus 56 1970 They are really doing some unusual cars along with the much needed Ferrari 312B3. Tom, I still have your kit of the Piper's car - it is very nice! I need to really start building these, cause I'm slowly turning into a model kit collector!
Tom, Is it possible that your curbside Piper 250LM is better than the Model Factory Hiro rendering ? Regards Gilles Lachance Québec City
Hard to say from the pictures. I see the Hiro is almost $300.00 US!!! best, Tom Tanner/Scale Designs/Ferrari Expo-Strictly 43rd Revival model/photo contest-Chicago April 2010
