    G'morning guys,
I've had my 348tb for 4-5years. Still love it but wanna change appearence a bit. I've ordered 355 wheels and tires but want to remove the side strakes for a cleaner look. Any of you guys done this yet? Is it s simply procedure or is there body work to do? I would like the option of bring it back to factory look in the future too. Any help would be appreciated!

    Pepe,

Have you personally washed your car by hand lately? Everytime I wash my 348 and clean the side strakes, I fall in love with the car!! The strakes / graders are BEAUTIFUL! If you want the look of a 355, pony up and buy one. In the long run, you will be rewarded. If you must; look at Harolds car (other FChat member) he bought some type of kit from Tubi style Japan to replace his strakes. Think long and hard before you &*@# that car up.

    Don't do it.

The side strakes are characteristic of the 348 and removing them would be a shame IMO.

    If you want your 348 to look like a 355...get a 355!

I agree, Put the 355 wheels on with wheel spacers and it will transform your baby.

I didn't use spacers on mine. I think the wheels would have stuck out too far.

Sorry, my friend, but dear old Enzo passed August 14, 1988. The 328 was still being built. :)

I think taking the strakes off is a fine thing to do. See:
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=153542

I think wheel spacers are for people who don't understand how to tune the suspension with rear ride height ajustments. They are completely unnecessary. However, they do no harm in moderate doses 15mm back or 25mm back and 15mm front.

    also brothers,

didnt some 348 speciale's come without the side strakes as standard.
and of course the uncovered rear lights.

this is mentioned in one of my ferrari books.

Hmmm...I thought it was 89', but you are correct. Then I wll say "designed while he was alive" just to take another meaningless stab! ;) Luca is still not correct either way and if he was a better driver he would see the car in a different light. Not a great businessman either alienating us 348 owners like that. Of course this is just my .02

FYI - Oh as far as the 355 wheels you do not need spacers as far as bolting them on, but you will need the correct bolts.
