If you live in the Tampa Bay area, and need to have any service work done, think twice about using Eibell Performance. I brought my Ferrari there.... BIG MISTAKE! I was charged almost $8,000.00, and the car ran worse after I got it back than it did when I brought it there. I was initially quoted $2500.00 to $3000.00 to repair the problem that I was having with the car, as well as having the oil changed and converting the A/C. He ended up replacing the plug wires, all of the fuel injectors, cam sensors and timing belts. None of this solved the problem. I brought the car back several times, and was finally told that there was nothig wrong with the car, and that the problem was, that I didn't know how to drive the car. I suppose I looked as though I just fell off of the turnip truck. The A/C worked briefly, and when I brought it back I was told that one of the fittings must have a small leak but that it difficult to determine because of the location of that fitting. I later found out that there was a huge leak in the condenser. I also found out that the fittings on the compressor were changed, but the oil was not and the compressor essentially imploded. It ended up costig me an additional $5000.00 for a new compressor as well as replacing the whole system as it was contaminated by metal fragments from the "implosion". I finally brought the car to an Itlaian car specialist, in Oldsmar, FL. Literally, in less than five minutes, he had the car running flawlessly just by making a slight adjustment in the fuel injection system.

I recently ran into another gentleman who brought his Lamborghini Diablo to Mr. Eibel. He had a very similar experience. He was also charged almost $8000.00 and was initially quoted substantially less. His car also ran worse after getting it back.

In my case, I was not notified of any of these price increases in writing. Mr. Eibel claimed that I authorized all of this additional work over the phone. How convenient.

Thanks for the heads up, and sorry for the screwing the incompetent fool gave you. Its good we have this ability to communicate and hopefully keep others from making the same mistake.

I think you should report him to the licensing agencies in Florida, the BBB, and so forth, just to keep the offense documented. How is this different from an armed robbery? The difference is you drive a Ferrari and this criminal thinks you can afford it and you will do nothing about it.

I wasn't really sure who to report him to, or if I did, would it do any good? In retrospect, I suppose that I should not have paid him, however, at the time, I felt as though he was entitled to be paid for the work that he performed. Unfortunately, I assumed that the Ferrari needed to have all of these repairs performed only to later find out that a simple adjustment to the fuel injection system would have corrected the problem. The A/C situation was just gross negligence on his behalf.

You did right by posting here so others will stay away. However, you neglected to say how you chose to take your car to Eibel. Do they tout themselves as Ferrari/exotic specialists?

Sounds like a small claims case, you might want to look into it.

They tout themselves as being european car specialists. I asked a long time patient, that is a domesic car mechanic, if he knew of anyone in the area that knew how to work on Ferrari's. He actually suggested Eibel Performance. Bob Ensor, who did an excellent job, had worked on the car prior to this. Unfortunately, Bob was forced to close his shop, and I wasn't able to get in touch with him to find out who he recommended.

Eibell had been a very good Porsche shop for years. You took your car to the wrong shop.

Pretty sure for work orders in the state of FL the shop has to have written proof of approved additional services rendered. Unless you signed a full release for the shop to do whatever they want to the car then you should have some legal recourse. If you want to get back the additional fees the shop charged you should be able to recoup that via small claims. A quick consult with a lawyer will be able to lay out a solid plan. If you would like to go after the shop for negligence you can ask the lawyer what they think the chances of winning something like that then weight that against what the legal fees will be to pursue this fully. Sometimes its more about principal.

You can also follow up with the BBB as well. I'm sure there are business licenses he has to have through the state of FL and you can file formal complaints with the proper licensing divisions that issue such licenses. He may have a dealer license as well(a lot of shops do) which you can a formal complaint with the dept. of the DMV that tracks issues with those issued FL dealer licenses. They can be a real pain in the side of dealers if there is a complaint filed against them.

At the very least you posted up this info which hopefully will come in handy and save someone else the headache.

Sorry to hear about your problems with that shop. Thanks for posting so others will be warned. I live on Merritt Isl. and take my car down to Tim Stanford in Ft. Lauderdale for the major service. It's a 2 1/2 hour drive but I know the shop will do a great job.
