Any one with knowledge of Motorcar Gallery in Fort Lauderdale? mdstrib
I saw one of their cars at Tim Stanfords the other day when I was picking up my car. That's gotta be a plus, no?
It's owned by Ed Waterman, a long-time car guy who used to operate up in the D.C. suburbs for many years before opening in Ft. Lauderdale. Marc Sonnery, a very knowledgable guy whose name you've probably seen in the FML, works for Ed now. It's my understanding that Tim does most of the needed work on the cars they've got in inventory which, as chefrobear indicates, is probably a good sign. I've seen a number of their cars at Tim's in the recent past, including a chairs & flares 246 GTS and a C/4.
Paul- Apparently being a free-lance automotive scribe wasn't too consistently lucrative, so Marc sells cars for Ed now. Ira
Ed Waterman has been in the business for quite some time. I for one, have never heard anything negative about Motorcar Gallery. Ask some of the "old timers" in the Ferrari circles. They should be able to give you some better insights on Mr. Waterman/Motorcar Gallery. BTW, not to hijack the thread, but how much do writers generally get paid for contributing to the FML, Forza or Cavallino?
I have done business with Motorcar Gallery and with Ed and Marc. Both are excellent guys and, just as I, suffer from the bad publicity FL dealers get. All their cars are done at Tims, who is one of the best in the industry. I am so confident in them that my 328GTS is currently in their showroom. Ed/Marc and I are in constant contact for cars and we buy and sell from each other on occassion. If you have a particular car in mind call Marc and you will be happy to get great knowledge and insight from the other end. Trust me, they ar ein biz for over 20 year in the same location. Thanks Martin. I am looking for a 330 GTC but I notice they no longer list the blue one they had, Guess I'm too slow! mdstrib
I think I remember Marc telling me he sold the car. They had the car for a few weeks and had some servie done at Tims and then got the car back and it sold pretty quick. Tell Marc you are looking and he will keep his ears on the ground for you. Tell him Martin said he is a good guy, maybe that helps
