So let's see... he was driving at night, in the rain, at very high speed, and obviously either drunk or impaired since he forgot he had dropped off his passenger earlier. He deserves to be in the hospital. The poor Scud lost b/c of owners' idiocy is the tragedy here. And thank God the passenger left before the accident.

I think it is wrong to assume that Ferrari's ALWAYS go into the wrong hands. That seems to be a reoccurring theme on this forum. I am quite certain anyones judgment, clarity and sense of recollection after a crash like that are quite blurred considering there was probably severe head trauma judging by the blood on the airbag. Therefore it is a poor assumption to assume he was drunk/impaired or an "idiot" even though he couldn't recall the origins of the other passenger. Furthermore, if I must be polite, saying that a person deserves to be in the hospital is also a very tasteless thing to say.
Ok - let me revise that to say that IF he was driving impaired, then he deserves whatever negative consequences he receives from this irresponsible decision, including injury to his person and property. Thank God he did not hurt his passenger, or anyone else on that motorway. He could have easily killed motorists in oncoming traffic. Regardless of being drunk or not, driving way too fast, in the rain at night, is highly irresponsible behavior. And I think most of us here, as Ferrari lovers, would agree that the 'badness' of this irresponsibility is compounded by the fact that he was doing it in a car as special, so highly desired, and crafted with such loving care, as a Scuderia. In the 6 years I owned my Ferrari, it was on the road during rain exactly one time.

As if your first post wasn't bad enough and total bullsh*t but the next one is never better Mr. Rain man. You know nothing about what happened except that a Ferrari driver got into an accident in the rain and got badly hurt. You don`t know if he was cut off! I am sure you are such a careful driver and you have "never" sped in your Ferrari which would be considered irresponsible behavior. Btw, last time I checked...Ferrari's ARE water proof so they can be driven in the rain. Too the driver of the Scud...may God speed in your recovery and enjoy life... for it is too short!
It seems to me that some people on this forum think all Ferrari owners are irresponsible and careless, which is definately not the case. Think of it like this, say the guy WASN'T in a Ferrari, say he was in a...Toyota; would that make all Toyota owners irresponsible and careless? Think about it that way. -G.B.
Scuderia has pirelli corsa tires which are almost slicks, which should not be driven hard in the rain, this may have been a factor?
That is not the point, we all know that the Ferrari can be drive in the rain. But some time you have to remember that even one of the best car in the world can't bear some situations in the road speacially when it comes to weather. I know the guy and he is ok.
You should buy a new Ferrari and drive it! I think you forgot what it feels to drive one, a real one. When we put miles, real miles in our cars we find situations that can be dangerous and rain can take you down no matter how you are driving your car. If you only drive your Ferrari under the rain only one time that means that you never own a Ferrari or you just had a very expensive piece of furniture seating on your garage.
That's really not a lot of blood on the airbags. Especially from a crash this bad. I wouldn't deduce that it was severe head trauma at all from that. More likely a bloody nose from the airbag and some other relatively minor cuts.
Scary... This is why I prefer to just wipe my 430 down in the garage. And occasionally take it out for a gentle stroll around the neighborhood, pressing the gas down every once in awhile to hear the engine You can say I'm not enjoying my car but I enjoy my car just fine and never put my life in danger. It's good to see these posts every once in awhile, it reminds me I'm not Michael Schumacher and how important it is to drive safely.

I drove my 360 in the rain all the time and it handled amazingly well. In fact, it was one of the most stable cars in the rain that I ever owned. I don't think you know what you are talking about. Ray
Swapsies for a framed poster? - The reason some Ferrari's aren't as good in the rain as some other cars is largely down to the tires. They're not undrivable in the rain, even with Yokohama AO48's or toyo 888s, as some people think. You should be more careful though with track oriented tires. They can only flow so much water and after that the car will aquaplane, much quicker than the average full weather tire. I've driven cars with tires so bald you could see the canvas in the rain. While they where only POS cars it was pretty fun and do able. Just turn of any traction control and be very gentle with all movements.
