Completely forgot to mention that we also discovered that one exhaust valve on cylinder 3 was missing the inner return spring! Looking at that cylinder, the seals on the head, the marks on the outer spring etc, we came to the conclusion that the spring was never installed at the factory. Could be wrong but I believe Claudio given his transparency, attention to detail and work ethic.
Wow! Glad he found it! Too many glasses of Barolo at the factory in the engine room when they put your engine together perhaps?
Yup, Erine and Pap are very bright guys. However Mitch, you're pretty slick yourself there with some of your informative posts. With regards to the post. The engine looks great. You must feel very satisfied and comfortable knowing that it been done correctly. In addition, this is one more post that exemplifies the reason why a proper 30K service should be performed with the engine out, rather than in situ. The quality of the job, attention to detail, and the high probability of noticing other problems makes it, at least to me, a no-brainer.
I was kind of disappointed in myself for having seen the pictures and not seen the headwork itself. I usually catchs this kind of detail. So I'm sort of kicking myself on this one.
how would that happen?! doesn't the exhaust flow away form the engine, in to the cats (and pre-cats before those) then out the muffler at the tail pipe?
I dont believe there is a accurate relationship between results from a compression test (cyl pressure) and the static compression ratio.. much having to do with cam profile (overlap), ring/quide leakage, etc. I'm not a Ferrari expert at ALL.. but that is my understanding of typical four stroke engines.
