The Maryland Troopers Association appears to be a worthwile organization providing important services. What I am wondering is whether the display of the sticker in the window makes any difference in the event of being pulled over for a possible traffic violation.

    Thanks.

If you have one and get stopped and have no good reason(you are a police officer or family member police) be ready to get the full fine amount and no break....It has gotten to the point that every clown around town thinks the sticker will get you out of a ticket. Most officers refuse to use the sticker any longer for that reason. So about 8/10 people that have one have no affiliation with police whatsoever, and the police know that........

Stickers, symbols, displays, etc usually mean nothing when you get stopped.

If someone actually handed me one of those, I would have to let them go. That would be funny as hell....

That will get you further than a sticker for sure....But, there are many types of FOP plates. Only certified officers can get the regular FOP plates and not the Associciate FOP member plates. There are actually different in design. Even Dc Police have a MD FOP plate that says DC State Lodge on them. Those are usually given no breaks. You wouldn't believe how many DC officers get plates for there cousins sister uncles neighbors brother....

We have had numerous hit/runs, thefts, assaults, etc with the lookout vehicle being a car with DC FOP State Lodge plates....

My Firefighter plates got me no where when I made a right turn on red in to the station parking lot with out coming to a complete stop! Judge changed it to a no points "failure to comply with signage" or something like that. Apparently the officer had ticketed the judges wife the week before for the same thing at a different light.

Most of the firefighter plates down here are volunteer plates. Alot of them think because they volunteer, they get special treatment.

Volly or Career, a ticket for turning in to the station is kind of ridiculous. I always give you cops special treatment and provide the best of care for you all when you run off the road. ;)

I met a guy at Cavallino a couple times. He has a very large (think 10-15) FOP and other verious stickers lining the bottom of his windshield. Somebody asked if it got him out of tickets. He said they are not there to get him "out of" tickets but "in to" conversations. He said it does that very well.

I'm no expert, but a buddy of mine in Va Beach has gotten plenty of breaks w/ his fire fighter plates. But he may have also had some sort of badge as a City of VaB inspector...

And to really get out of tickets, you only need one thing - cleavage. I've lost count of how many tickets my wife has gotten out of..... (at times I would *GUARANTEE* that I'd have gotten the ticket! but I'm not bitter.... LOL)
