I'm looking for book recommendations on prewar Aston Martins. Nothing expensive, say, under $100.

I've had a copy of the Illustrated Aston Martin Buyers Guide for years, but am looking for something with more focus on the earlier cars. Is anyone familiar with the Aston Martin Gold Portfolio book by Brooklands? Worth picking up? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

    Wayne,

Not much help but "The Power Behind Aston Martin - Geoff Courtney, has a couple of chapters on prewar cars. Oxford Illustrated Press 1978.

    Good luck,

I picked up a nice Aston Martin book from Green Mountain Motorbooks when they had a booth at an event at VIR about a year ago. Titled "Aston Martin" by Rainer W. Schlegelmilch, Hartmut Lehbrink and Jochen von Osterroth. Written parallel in English, French and German, it covers all the models from the beginning of the company through the introduction of the DB9. Introduction by Roy Salvadori. I have yet to read it (it IS one of the books at the top of my reading list) but appears to cover the history of the company and all the car models, with some great photographs. I seem to remember I got my copy somewhere between $50-$75 US.

Thanks, Gary. I have the Schlegelmilch/Lehbrink Ferrari book. Beautiful photographs but lacks actual substance. Maybe Osterroth has brought something to the table when it comes to AM.

Thanks, Boudewijn. There are currently three Amazon.com sellers offering this book. Unfortunately, prices range from $358 to $500!

Found a copy at AbeBooks for $142.

Aston Martin the legend by Michael Bowler.
It's a small book, part of a series that
    includes Ferrari,Jaguar,etc. all by
    different authors though.
